Default What cam PT88/4.8?

Im picking up a 4.8 from an 08 Silverado to use in my turbo build. Motor currently has this in it. Im told it was spec'd by LJMS for twin S366's. Heres the cam card for whays in the motor. Im game to change it out if its necessary but otherwise I'd prefer to keep it. Car is a '98 TA, 9" w/3.00 gear, 28" tire, guessing ~3500 with me in it. Still need to buy tranny and stall. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (especially ones with personal experience doing similar)

It would work pretty well i think... might need a little more gear in the back to be ideal for the race track....

The little motor is probably gonna need a little more converter than a 5.3 or 6.0 would....

That cam was spec'd for a 5.3 with twin 366's and a Hi ram.... I think the valve events it has will work pretty well for a 4.8 with a stock intake.

I was trying to decide whether or not to stick with an LS6/stock TB or go with a Vic Jr, w/ elbow, and 90mm TB. Any suggestions for a converter and gear? If you would recommend going with another cam I'm all ears too.

I would probably stick with an LS6 with the little motor...

depending on tire size... maybe a 3.3X ish area on the gear.

converter... 3800-4000 prolly

LSA means nothing... its just a number.

There's only 4 numbers that matter... IVO, IVC EVO and EVC.... Once you decide those 4 numbers, Duration, Lobe sep and intake centerline just happen.

That camshaft went 5.0/8.0's with twin S366's on a 5.3 in an S10 pickup.

Thats somewhat of a contradictory statement in itself. Changing the LSA will directly change your valve open and close events. every number does in fact affect how the cam responds so saying "its just a number" isn't entirely accurate IMO Something in the 224/228 on a 115ish would have been my choice or something in that range in a 4.8 but again its neither of our builds so at that point its merely opinion.

No... Changing your valve events will change the lsa, it doesn't go the other way around.

Thats not exactly what i meant. Its more of a cause and effect matter but Saying one is meaningless isnt correct either.
