Default Crank question

I will be purchasing a crank next week to finish up my rotating assembly for a forged 5.3. I am trying to figure out what size crank to go with.

My pistons are Wiseco K474M965 which are a -2.20 dish, 3.800 bore, .927 pin. Rods are Eagle H-beam (6125O3D2000) which are 6.125 in length.

I am looking at the K1 crank in a 3.622 stroke but they only offer a 6.098 rod length selection and Eagle offers a 6.100. Would the 6.098 still work? I am thinking the .027 difference could cause an issue, but that is why I am trying to get experienced help. If I select a crank for a 6.125 rod, they only offer 4"+, which I am not going to use in a 5.3.

The K1 has different P/N's on TSP and summit for a 3.622.
TSP -10-012FAE362-XX
Summit - 346-3622RB6F-24 (former P/N according to K1's website)

I do have a OEM ls1 crank that I pulled from my blown ls1 but since I have 700-800 goal, I'm not going to wait for the OEM crank to say "I give!".

You need to look at the CH of the piston you plan on using

700-800 goal and your looking for a forged crank? There are people making almost twice your goal on a stock crank. Save your money. The stock crank is more than capable at those numbers.

I'm not going to want to stay at that power level and this is going to be a street/strip car. I'm willing to fork out ~$800 for something I know will take the abuse and have better reliability in the long run.

That's just it.. I've seen more forged China cranks snap than factory. Do yourself a favor. If your going to buy a forged crank buy a real crank like a dragonslayer.

It means 6.098 is the shortest rod to be used on the crank, 6.125 rod will be fine.
0 deck for those pistons, 6.098 rod=9.209 & 6.125 rod=9.236. Stock deck should
be around 9.240.

From Callies website- "They are forged and semi-finished at various offshore locations"

Would a Callies compstar crank be considered a china forging ?

Yes. I wouldn't touch compstar crank with 10 fit pole over a stock crank

Yes. They are no better than any other Mid level "forged" cranks. If people saw how many Callie's compstars LME sent in to petes cranks to get re worked fresh out of the box you drop dead..

K1 seems to be the best of all the entry level forged cranks. I got one in my Procharged 370. I bent a stock one. The car makes 940 fwiw.
