Default on3 twin turbo 5.3 exhaust housing ??

i have a vs racing 80mm turbo on my 5.3 right now. looking to switch it up and put twins on the car this winter. i know a few people have used the on3 turbos in a twin application. but i was wondering what exhaust housing would be best for twins on a forged 5.3? looks like the on3 76mm comes with a .96ar exhaust housing? but you can get a .68, .81 and others? should i just stick with the .96 ar? or order one with a different housing on it? http://www.on3performance.com/shop/o...-turbocharger/

I would avoid the .96 on a 5.3 as a personal opinion and go with the .81. It depends on how you want the car to behave. You'll be trading top end for spool, choose accordingly.

Housing wise I would look at the .68 or .81. But the 76 compressor wheel might contribute to slow spool for any street driving. 60-66mm range would be my choice.

I'm using twin 7265s with .68 a/r from VSracing on a 5.3 and they spool hard. I originally had a sbe 5.7 until I split a sleeve at 18-19 psi lol.

Kinda surprised the sbe 5.3 spools them the same as the 5.7 did.

In terms of spool time "how fast is fast" before I can get the pedal to the floor I am making positive pressure.

You can make 1000whp on the 70's and .81 ar housings with good compromise with response and top end power vs backpressure ratio. Depends on the setup tho. What gearing what rpm plan to turn? Converter size if auto will correspond to where cam will come in but the turbine housing will also correspond to those figures. You want all 3 to work together

Have you personally seen the on3 70s make 1000whp (either in person or a link to a thread)? Just asking because I was never able to find much dyno proven info on them on a lsx applicatication. The best info I was able to find was Wicked69s build when he went 5.9x in the 1/8 with them.

To OP. I'd go with .68 ar on a 5.3. Should make for a fun car on the street. I personally went with the .81 ar housing but my motor is a 402.

I did 705rwhp on 14-15psi with them on a 6.0 with .68 housing. 93 with 12*

They spool really hard and are amazing on the street. 1000 might be tough but probably doable on the larger housings. I wasn't out of steam yet I just didn't want to go higher since it is my slow/street cruiser.

I made 1009 thru a th400 on master power 70's which basically are the same thing. My friends on3 76 twin 6.0 made 1053 on same dyno. Its not the comp that gets maxed imo its the turbine side. I dont see how a on3 70 wouldnt match the master power 70's

im looking to make 1000 plus on a forged 5.3 and 8-900 on my stock bottom end gen4 5.3 that i have in the car right now. sorry i didnt respond earlier. i never got any notifications. car doesnt roll race. only track racing and digs on the street. has a th400 with a brake and 327 rear end gears. i just dont want it to take 30 seconds to build boost on the transbrake. I might just end up tryin the .96 housings to make sure it breaths good on the top end. and with the transbrake i usually leave on almsot full boost with the single that i have right now. so i would assume that with the twins i would leave around the same boost hopefully

Others have reported .68 housings on a t4 flange to make 1000whp on 370+ inch motors with relative ease.

The .68 is gonna spool hard on the t brake or foot brake and even from a roll or w/e you do with em. My 7265s from vsracing with .68 a/r light instantly on my 5.3.

.81 or even the .96 may do the same on the t brake or foot brake especially with a 2 step. Prolly be a little lazy on the street playn around tho.

This is a bone stock LS1 with twin On3 67's in .81 ar turbines

They were VERY responsive. Car made 890whp @23psi. With a cam I am confident it would make well over 1000whp@24-25psi.

Not sure if it was mentioend but why are you making the switch?

As mentioned Screamin L made 1050whp through an Auto at 24 psi on twin On3 76's

I recently did twin on3 7665 with .96ars on 5.4.....made 930rwhp thru th400 and a 9.75" rear on mustang dyno
With no timing at 29 psi

Setup had a tight converter and would foot brake 4 psi at 3000 rpms

Look up Dbrods...his old L33 ran 7665s and ran 30psi nd ran hard

I also tossed them on a 6.0 and made 1053rwhp on 23psi thru th400 and would foot brake 6psi at 3500

All these are .96ar

I wouldnt hesitate to use them on a 5.3
