Not alot of conclusive results tho.😒
Mine is still living!

I went to a bigger Hoosier, got some front runners and dropped a few lbs off the car, and turned the boost up to 26lbs. Just been waiting for a track rental to test it out, but so far they have been rained out.

Ole Betsy is still trucking. Swapped stock truck intake for an edelbrock pro-flo and went 9.5 today in worse DA with less boost (-2psi) and less rear gear (2.92 vs 3.27) so she's working fine and moving some air!

Was a little warmer out so worse DA, little lower boost (1-2PSI lower then last outing), along with bigger Hoosiers and anemic 2.92 gear brought my MPH down some compared to the 3.27 gears on smaller tire in better air. I'm going to switch to a better diff with a little more gear in it along with little more boost and timing and see what she will do!

Video from yesterday is below, leaving on 7-8lbs pulled a 1.48 60' on the foot brake.

Thanks guys! I adjusted the shocks a tad and added a degree of timing down low and the 60' came together. I'm going to swap out the 2.92 gears for some 3.45's and it should help all around, faster off the line and less converter slip up top for more MPH.

1.32 housing and yes 5" flange removed and 4" vband welded in place. Seemed easier then running the 5"-4" reducer as I'm limited on space and now I can reuse my downpipe.

Took the S480 out for a spin to compare to the On3 88mm... not a huge difference. I guess the S480 is good for an 80mm but still a little lacking to me. I was expecting shock and awe according to the people claiming 1000+whp with it.

S480 spools a little faster roughly 200-400RPM but doesn't seem to make a ton more power up top. Looking at fueling On3 at 26PSI vs S480 on 27lbs is maybe 100hp difference. I guess that's a decent amount but I was expecting more the way people worship these things.

And I think a lot of that is just in the larger turbine and compressor cover. Still, faster spool and seemingly more power-thats a win-win!

100HP is pretty massive! Best your gonna do is come close to doubling the NA HP per bar of boost anyway. Difference is the S480 turbo will operate at a higher efficiency area on the map at "big" boost levels than the 88. Which also means it will carry you farther if you wanted to run additional boost.

Do you have another shot showing how the 4" flange was welded on?

Except when you have a 4000lb car and a 250lb driver... 100hp is rather mediocre. I have to make drastic power changes to make this boat anchor feel faster. I thought it was making maybe 800 on the old turbo and the S480 would make a solid 200hp more seeing how people make 1000 even with the cast wheel S480. I thought the billet wheel would be good for even more then that really. How much more boost can it run? Seen people pin the gates and it makes 29lbs. I don't have much of a wastegate as it is, single Tial 38mm.

I've seen 5.3's make 250-275whp NA then go over 1000 on 25psi. According to theory they should only make 750-825.

Ya the turbo is physically big, had to chop things up to fit it in. Its a step in the right direction... but not a long term step.

Pretty much shows it right there but I'll see if I can take another pic, probably cant see much now that its installed. While the Borg vband is bigger the turbine exit is only 4" so a 4" vband sits flush when you cut off the larger flange and just weld around it.

You are running a billet wheel in the s480? Who's wheel?

Ya had to be billet wheel to get more boost out of it. From what I saw cast wheel was tapped at like 24psi and didn't make much more then 1000hp so I wasn't wasting time with that. Pretty sure they are a forum sponsor or at least give turbo support here, supposedly its "the" S480 to have.

Kinda sucks the 82 and 84mm wheels don't move much more air and bigger turbos cost a small fortune. Now I see why people go twins with cheaper turbos, not many singles out there under $2000 that can move big air.
