99 Ford ranger 4wd with 5.3 and 4l60e turbo questions
Hey guys new to this forum. Seems to be a pile of good info. So here we go. I've got a ranger with 5.3 setup. Stock bottom end ported and built heads, factory ecm. I'm wanting to go turbo. Don't understand how to find the right turbo for what I want. 500 to 600 whp single or twins doesn't matter. Im gonna build myself. Want to run garrets preferably due to theu I been around forever. What do you guys recommend? How are the cx racing turbos?

You could copy one of Denmah's setups. Just search "denmah" and read through his build threads. Or really any of 5.3/auto build threads that people have actually finished and have the results you're looking for.
I'm assuming a gt45 76/75 .96ar? Someone else should confirm that tho.
Cam selection and converter selection are going to impact how any turbo behaves though so thats important info to add to your post. Are you going to keep the stock cam or do you plan/are you open to a diff cam?

I'm open to anything. I've heard good things about swapping to z06 cam for boost. I work for GM so have those on the shelf. This is my first attempt at boost. Like I said I don't want crazy numbers just 500 to 600whp. The truck is just a sleeper. I've got hp tuner software to tune it. Just no clue on what to use for turbo or turbos. Up for all suggestions. I can build anything and have all tools that are necessary. Don't won't crazy expensive either since its my first try. The previous kit that was mentioned looks decent for what I'm trying.

Thats the link to his kit... if it wasn't already posted earlier in this thread. Good price and its been proven to make power. Give martin@tick a shout for a proper cam.
