Default Need help identifying turbo

I got this turbo with a used GMR speed kit I bought. Guy said the turbo was a PT76GTS. I took the compressor cover off and measured 63mm at the top of the wheel taper (what you 'see' looking at it with the cover on) and 84mm at the base of the wheel. I haven't pulled the hotside cover, but the markings on it say '63/76H'.
I knew the exhaust side was gonna be small and I'd considered going with a .96 housing, but I'm concerned about the compressor size.

Is this in fact a true precision turbo 76gts or have I been had?

to look at it it looks like a te45a that we used to use on buick gns . I believe they were 63 compresser and 62 mm turbine but don't quote me on that . the turbine housing looks small for a 76 mm turbine to me. you need to measure the turbine.

Ok I'll take it apart tonight and check both sides of the exhaust wheel.

To know for sure just contact PTE.

If it has a 63mm compressor inducer is should be a PTE63. The 60, 63, 67 numbers did correlate to turbo part numbers.
They have always had weird pie-in-the-sky numbering. It was what ever dude wanted them to be.

Either way you have a 63/84mm compressor & what ever the turbine side is, but it appears to be a .85 A/R on center housing. Divided tangential would be a good change.

What are you using it for?

It's going on a 364" motor with 317 heads and a mild cam and a 4L80E. I'm guessing around 17psi. Figured this lil fella would choke it. Had it been what I was told I'd keep it, but it's looking way small for the application.

Just measured the exhaust wheel, looks to be 66mm. So it's a 63/66. Sweet.
