Default Looking for some advice

I have a 4th Gen Camaro right now it has a stock bottom end LS1 in it with over a 100,000 miles on it. Never been freshened up. Plans are to go Turbo with the car. I have a kit for it already and I'm throwing a S480 on that. Now, I really wanted a bad *** motor or should I say something tough enough to take some boost. Enough boost to get the car in the 8's. Being realistic a bad *** motor isnt in the budget right now. I know I could throw this **** on that 5.7 and see what happens but If i were to go inside this motor what could I do to it that won't break the bank that could make it a little stronger? What would you do if you were me? I've heard suggestions of selling my motor and getting a L33 or something like that. Is it cheaper and does it make more sense to sell my motor and get my hands on something out the junk yard instead of cracking my motor open and replacing a couple of things? idk Again what would you do if you were me?

I'd put good rods and pistons in the engine you have, but it's never as cheap as you think it's going to be. Bob

If it were me I would sell the ls1 to a N/A guy (if you wanted to go FI) and build up the L33 for boost over the winter.

Then you have a choice between a JY motor or buying a brand new bare block.
The BB idea might not be the most cost affective but what time and money is spent on a JY motor picking it up,checking for cracks, it's a crap shoot.
You could have money into a useless block.

only down side of the new BB is having to buy all the little parts.
Nickle and dime'd to death. But if you already have a ls1 you could just transfer all covers and censors.

Boost is an addiction, your always going to want more so if you decide to throw some money at this don't cheap out on substandard parts, you'll regret it down the road. There are some really good deals from vendors on here for short blocks right now. Check out Thompson motorsports. By the time you put Pistons and rods in yours along with all the other stuff you'll be close to 2k. You can get a short block with a warentee for around 3k to the door

Makes sense, sucks not having a ton of money to throw at this.

I'd sell the LS1. It'll cover the cost of a gen 4 bottom end 4.8 or 5.3 and you will have hundreds left over to cover the nickel and dime stuff.

I beat the **** out of my L33. It loves it.
