Default Holley Hi Ram vs Snipper Intakes

Basically 402 LQ4 with a F1-R and full race setup. Which of the two would be better? I am learning more towards the Hi Ram. Current setup has a Vic Jr and Aaron's elbow. Ran numbers in sig.

there was an intake comparison done in a GM magazine a while back where they tested all the factory intakes along with a few popular aftermarket intakes. Long story short, the Hi Ram was the best performing intake along with the FAST 102 with regards to highest peak numbers. The sniper intake, many are believing to be the same design/builder that was building the cheaper style eBay intakes (not saying this is true, but the price and design are strikingly similar). With that said, I would believe the Hi Ram would be the route to go if you can fit it under the vette hood and can afford the extra coin.

I would say go with the Hi-Ram. It's a proven intake that's great for boost. That Sniper intake is likely some Chinese garbage that's going to bust under a lot of boost.

The snipper intake is also made by Holley:

Probably both made in China anyway.

WHat sort of rpm's will you be using ?

In that big intake test, the one thing it really highlighted was most of those big intakes really dont start to shine until above 6k or so
Below that almost all the other intakes were better.

Of course it will, the intake will still favour certain things, and those big intakes favour big rpm's

You could choose an intake to help the lower regions and let the boost take care of the top end

They are only cast in China. Designed and machined in the USA.

For your car, a hi-ram. Also, take note on the fuel rail diameter on that sniper intake...it's 3/8" and the other Holley rails are 5/8". With that being said, I would still like to see the sniper intake on a forced induction setup.

Holley Hi-Ram is a proven performer with tons of guys running it with great results. I have yet to see any data in regards to the new Sniper intake.

I have a sniper intake on order for my ls2 corvette. I called holley and they said its thicker material and better welds then eBay sold knock offs and that it has been tested to 35lbs boost. I will be putting around 12lbs boost through it via a vortech t-trim and a 100shot on occasion. I have a ported fast 92, but don't trust the fast to handle a nitrous backfire. Only reason I choose the sniper over the hi-ram was for hood clearance, I'm really hopping I won't have to cut stock hood at all with the sniper. As far as the fuel rails go, the provided ones are way too small for my build, so I got racetronix 3/4" rails...

not sure what diameter the Holley rails etc are, but presumably if you're needing 3/4" rails you must be well into 2000hp+ territory

Then there are the quality claims from Holley. No doubt they will try and big up their ( Chinese ) product...but I doubt it's really much different than all the other Chinese intakes the same as it.

Time will tell though, either way it still looks like a nice piece and isn't expensive for what you're getting. I really doubt it will perform that much different than the Hi Ram...although some tests would be interesting.

I doubt the sniper will perform near as good as hi-ram, and I'd much rather have a hi-ram, I choose the sniper simply for hood clearance...

I said 3/8 rails are not big enough for my build, the 3/4 rails were on sale, so I went that big. Dual 340lph pumps through 8an line feeding 96lb injectors for E85. Probably going 120lb injectors soon.

3/8" bore, or NPT fitting ?

I'd be shocked if anyone makes any rails with a 3/8" bore.
