Looks good. You may need to grind away and clean up the metal more for cleaner welds. Do not use Brake Cleaner after. Wipe down using something else.

Acetone and denatured alchohol (SLX) are good choices for cleaning metal before tig welding.

Welding is one of those things where practice makes perfect. It is very rare that you see someone who can pick up a torch or mig gun for the first time and just start laying down killer beads. Then subtract the few that lie and tell you they are beginners and that type of person is very rare.

I'm a self taught welder. Started stick welding with a Lincoln "cracker box" when I was 15, then moved to a mig machine for a few years and then finally bought my own Miller Dynasty Tig/Stick machine back in 2008. Each process requires a unique technique. Practice practice practice.......

So people might have some opinions on this, but I am going to have to the put the 44mm gate right here for now in the crossover... there are alot of truck turbo systems controlling boost from this spot I hear. I didn't have enough clearance coming off the front of my log manifold and I considered the turbo housing, but might as well try this first.

Yes the crossover is going to get wrapped lol

most clearance I could get for the crossover while still clearing the converter/flexplate

Realize I didn't measure for yoke engagement into the trans before installing the driveshaft ugh

This is a budget build so I didn't want to have to buy one...

Bottomed the shaft out into the trans and backed it back out 1 inch... fits perfect

It is time to start thinking about harness and boost control/wideband....

I am thinking a PSI harness maybe?

For boost control I am thinking of trying a geforce II boost controller

Wideband - no idea yet....

PSI is a good harness. They make a bunch of different ones, might call them before ordering.

I put a Turbo Smart II in my buddies wagon. Bought one for my Nova as well.
I don't like it. It's very confusing to set up. I was looking at the Gforce as well.

Folks love the AEM wide bands. I find them to have a very dirty analog output.
Zietronix ZT3 is a decent unit. We use them at the shop all the time.

Innovate MTXL wideband worked great on my last car and is cheap. I ran it on e85 with no problems.

If you have your stock harness, have you thought about doing it yourself? It's easier than it seems, just a little time consuming. I did mines in a couple of days, just chipping away at it when i had time while watching my 3 year old daughter lol. You're not running an electronic transmission so it will be pretty simple. Just food for thought

I 2nd this route... Building my own harness was one of the most educational and rewarding pieces of my build puzzle.
It lets you put the harness exactly where you want it and build the fuse/relay center how you want it.
I dig these relay/fuse boxes.

Slowly but surely making progress. The budget nature of the build and a semi new baby slow things down along with the summer honey-do list @ home.

So Exide batteries has a local plant here in town that sells stamped seconds. 32 bucks and I got my hands on a group 35 second.

Got my Amazon AEM 380glph pump mounted and the fuel filter mounted up

The russel efi fitting seems like a nice unit.

Next up is mounting the intercooler and starting on the wiring.

Changed my boost controller of choice to the Innovate SCG-1 with the integrated wideband. Just waiting for amazon warehouse to get a discounted one in, lol.

Those AEM 380 pumps are killer. I've got two on my car (I run E85) they're quiet and flow a ton! You might want to reconsider the liquid filled gauge. Probably won't last long due to heat and vibration. Just my opinion though. Otherwise, keep on keepin on! What intercooler are you going to go with? I did a small thread when I put my Treadstone in my Nova. Do a search, it'll come up.

Quality reject that gets stamped, but receives no Exide branding or labeling. For whatever reason it would never be sold to the public.

haha that can't be a good thing. I could understand cosmetic issues that cause companies to sell for cheap but never be sold to the public sounds like potential problem.

Interesting Ive read this as my duralast gold just started giving me trouble yesterday... Was made back in 11 so 5 years is pretty good. Looking into new smaller batteries now. Optima are junk from what I hear and my dad's had bad experience with them. Thinking of stepping down from a group 78 to a 75. Prob will go with autocraft gold as advance auto is having 20% off right now.

Ive got the VS racing sloppy universal intercooler. Had some time off after labor day and got it mounted. I had to remove my hood latch and center support section to shoehorn it in. Guess I will need to find a good set of hood pins now, lol.

radiator fits good... grill too

Will weld in the bottom brackets I made later... once final fit is done.

radiator is a griffin 2 row 25272-x that I had laying around... hope its enough to cool everything as it was free.... debating on re-positioning and adding another fan or hitting up the scrap yard for some taurus fans maybe

Why get used? New aftermarket Mark VIII fans are less than $100. Get that and a Mark VIII controller from Hollister for $60-100 and call it a day.

I run that exact combo and its worked well. Pulls alot of amps on startup but worth it i guess.
