I just modified my stock bumper support. I cut out a space for the FMIC and put a bar across the top and bolted them together. Its cool because you can keep your fog lights with it. And I did a Godspeed intercooler which is supposed to be a little better than the typical eBay intercooler and worked real well. I talked to Chiseled Performance about it. If you want some pics let me know. I pulled it off now and am going to a top outlet fmic which will handle a little more and optimize flow a little better.

The burkhart bumper is easier to use and lighter though but I like modifying stuff and wanted to keep my fog lights. I bought MWCs support for the new FMIC.

I'm actually going to put the the FMIC and the piping for sale soon too.

Ah, I forgot about this thread. I guess I should update it on my plans.

I've been going back and forth on the turbo vs Procharger thing for a while now with some of the group sales going on... but I don't want to start over on my build. Part of me wants to, to make it less loud and even more streetable, but that's part of the appeal of what it is. I'd rather just go ahead and Procharge this and then maybe get a roller or something and do a full T6 Turbo build or something more race oriented. But as far as street builds go...

I put the BTR 227/244 115 supercharger cam in and it made drivability tons better vs the 234/242 111 I had in it before. I have it loping like a son of a bitch too. So it still sounds excellent and pulls a lot more vacuum at a lower RPM than before. After some help with the tuning the 102 TB from James Short, I finally have drivability ironed out.

So that has me back on track of bolting up a D1SC and letting this car rip (with a restall from CircleD on my converter). And I plan to start buying things this week and collecting parts over the next couple of months (with my wife's blessing finally).

So because of that, I plan to piece together my own kit:

ATI PC051A-001 D-1SC ProCharger Head Unit (or maybe I'll see what the D1X does)
Aster Bracker and Modified LS2 Water Pump
CBR 8-Rib 8.65" Crank Pulley (does this clear the LS2 water pump?)
ATI DP438I-08D 4.38" 8-Rib Blower Pulley (to start with - aiming for 12psi or less)
ATI AIGI3I-015 Truck Inlet Hat w/ATI AF057I-001 Air Filter Element
ATI 918853 Supercharger Super Damper (will need to sell my current one or try to make it work vs buying new but this design is different)
ATI 3GSMM-001 GM LS Crank Pinning Kit
ATI ME001G-001 6oz ProCharger Oil Pack
Burkhart Bumper Support
Treadstone TR1245 4.5" Core 1000HP Intercooler (1500cfm flow with 1.5psi drop vs the CXRacing Chinese eBay Core everyone uses)
CXRacing 3" Universal Aluminum Intercooler Piping Kit (meh)
Tial Q 50mm Blowoff Valve w/2psi Supercharger Spring
BMR Radiator Shroud
Mighty Mouse Dual Fan Shroud for Spal 16" and 9" Fans
Gates K080550HD 55" 8-Rib Belt
DPE 2.5 Bar MAP Sensor
Bosch 95lbs Flow-Matched Fuel Injectors 0280158040 from FIC (not redrilled)
Lonnie's Dual Walbro 255 Fuel Pump Kit w/Wiring Harness
Nasty Performance F-Body Stage 3 -8/-6AN Line Kit w/Billet Fuel Rails
Alkycontrol Methanol Injection Kit with Twin M15 Nozzles
NGK TR6 Spark Plugs gapped @ .028 to start with before going colder
Kurt Urban Vapor Vent System

Plan would be 12psi or less right now with 100% methanol injection on 93. Max RPM of 6500.

My one hesitation at the moment is running the FAST 102, but it seems like it would be good for under 12psi. I have drivability with it finally pretty good. So I'd like to just shove boost in there. Goal would be somewhere around 650rwhp. And with the meth, I think it would hold together for a little while. And still give me a car I could drive in traffic with the a/c on. If it blows up, I'll rebuild and then I might reset and sell off everything and get a much quieter exhaust and do the turbo. But for now, the easiest and cheapest for me to do would be to piece together the procharger kit and fuel system and enjoy it.

That more than doable with your setup. Should be an awesome build. I made 630/605 on stock heads, LS6 intake, 1 5/8 crappy headers and ory on 10# boost on 93. 383 forged bottom and 9:1 compression. With your top end it will do much better.

I have the LS2 modified water pump for sale if ur interested pm me. Has 250 miles on it. I Also have some 3" steel tubing and couplers for front mount.

As for the fast 102, according to Mamo they'll handle plenty of boost. My tuner said he didn't like to use it over 15#. I'm sure you have to watch a little more if it's ported.

Good luck with your build!

3" steel tubing you say?

I've been waffling on going with the ATI FMIC kit... I really like the intercooler. It's very nice, installs easily, and is pretty comparable to what Huron sells in their kits with the 4.5" Bell Intercooler upgrade... pricing is about the same too.

And I like that it has all the piping. Makes it very easy for a DIYer in the garage. What I don't like is the mild steel vs stainless or aluminum piping and the number of rubber joints. Ideally, I'd like one tube off the supercharger to the FMIC with either no provision or a provision for a 50mm BOV (since I prefer the Tial to the Big Red) and only one joint from the FMIC to the TB.

The ATI kit has 5 such joints.

I've also been contemplating what happens after the stock shortblock dies... and I'm looking hard at an LS2 or LS3 based stroker with an F1A-94 as sort of the logical upgrade path since it is the most efficient blower ATI makes. I think paired with a 416 it would make a very nice street motor.

Of course my 4L60 would probably not survive behind that and the 1-7/8" headers may become a bit of a restriction. But I'd probably do TEA/TFS 245s worked by Brian Tooley with the N2O port to help the exhaust a bit with softened chambers. And then interestingly, his 239/254 114 cam would probably pair up well in that combo...

I bought my c5 with a procharger D1SC already on the car, I love it has the dual intercoolers on each side.

If you want to do a front mount I actually have everything you would need, 3" steel piping, couplings and Godspeed intercooler. The tubing has the neck for the BOV welded in already also. I'll take some pics. But I cut the front bumper support up and set it up so I could still use my fog lights. Worked good. Both setups are nice. There's quite a few couplings because of the way it travels. My new setup I did a top outlet intercooler and 3" aluminum tubing and the only couplings are at the throttle body and the inlet outlet of the intercooler.

I've also been looking at the F1A-94. That's an awesome setup there. Bob at BruteSpeed told me my block isn't tough enough to handle it though, I need a 6 bolt head setup. One thing for the street it's supposed to be pretty sluggish down low but a monster up top. I'm wondering how sluggish at low rpm, my setup is for 90% track so I don't really care but if you daily yours it's something you might want to consider

That'd be cool if you could take some pics!

And I've heard that too. But I was thinking with TFS heads and 1/2" head studs, you could get away with an F1A-94 for track duty without going to 6-bolt heads. Or on the street with something like a 416, the loss of low-end is probably less but provides a lot of top end potential.

I know a lot of folks say go with the smallest engine you can and let the blower work... but remember Prochargers eat HP... so the bigger the motor and the more power it makes, the easier it will be to drive a blower. Of course, the F1A-94 being the most efficient blower ATI makes helps so it could work on something like a 347 to 370 without much issue (or even a 383).

I've thought about trying it. I might even and just not use it to full potential until next engine build. For now I want to see how fast I can get the car with the D1. I'd like to hit 8.9x at least. I think it's doable

D1X might be a decent upgrade... sort of pushes it to the F1A in terms of flow. But with a more efficient setup.

Lol. Nice. I just used a single fan on my last setup. I was reading that the second smaller fan creates a lot of heat under the hood because of the head unit for the blower being right below it. So I just closed up the smaller hole and ran one fan.

imo if you're starting from scratch the D1X is a no brainer.

650whp will be piece of cake with that setup too. tons of room to turn it up if you want. D1 has been proven to 850whp+ with the rights parts and D1X should be even better

I agree. If I was buying a new setup I'd do D1X as well. Almost want to try it myself but I don't think it's worth going from D1 to D1X.

I am surprised you aren't going with larger more modern pumps, like the Walbro 450s. Obvious added benefit is ethanol compatibility; which I might add even at 20% ethanol content really cleans up the dirty exhaust smell.

Have you considered running a wastegate and a smaller pulley? I found that this really woke up the D1SC on our TBSS, and was especially helpful during the early tuning stages (setting the WG for 9psi vs 12psi).

I've seen that. I'd have to look into it more.

And yeah, I'm doing the 450s. It's not that much more and it provides all the fueling you could ever want. 1200rwhp on E85? 1600+ on 93?

One thing I did this evening was look at a number of 390-402-416 builds on CorvetteForum with the D1. With meth and larger motors, there's a fair number of 850rwhp builds in the Vette world. Of course, the Vette drivetrain doesn't seem to eat as much power as the F-Body, but it's interesting that even through stalled autos they were seeing 800+ with a D1 spinning it under it's max. And the torque numbers were like 750-800+ in those setups. Of course, the Vettes were also using FMICs and the meth helps.

I think I may just go with a 383 or even step up to a 402/416 and run the D1X which is even better than a D1 and avoid some of the issues the F-series blowers can cause.

I was looking at building a larger motor for the F1A-94 and by the time I really built a bottom end to handle it, I was getting very close to 5 figures on just the shortblock. I'd much rather use cheaper off-the-shelf stuff and keep power in the 800rwhp range. Less things to break.

An iron 383 or a 402 with the D1X sounds like it'd be a good choice for all-around usable power. I've ridden in an LS2 C6 with a regular D1 at low 700's to the ground and it was still extremely violent. Didn't someone on here just have packaging problems with the F1A-94 also?

Yep. There was some packaging problems. The F1A-94 is definitely more of a race setup.

A 416 with TFS 245s and a Stage 3 Jam Cam (230/242 115) and a D1X pullied for 6200 max RPM would be very violent in the midrange.
