A good quality turbo blanket can only be a good thing if you need to protect stuff from radiant heat. Never heard of any going on fire.
I've seen all sorts of heat reflective stuff you can stick onto body panels.....and I'm sure modern adhesives can be fantastic. Just not sure I'd trust something like that though. Plus what sort of prep does the panel need before sticking to it ?
Just how close or what is it you're trying to protect ?
Some of my pipes on the underside run very very close to the chassis...I just decided to leave them all bare so at least you get good airflow around everything when moving.

I dont sit on that side....they can melt !! lol
Is wrapping the pipes an option ? Although wrap is hateful stuff. I guess the stick on stuff cant hurt to try. I'd be sceptical though, but it would be convenient vs making other heat barriers you could bolt or screw on.

make sure you test fit really well before applying. whatever they use as adhesive is gnarly.

Pretty hard to beat the value of $25 4' by 6' welding blanket IMO. Don't forget the 20% off coupon as well!

We have used self sticking heat shield for years in our stock cars. They have bare floors and pipes run right under your seat. It gets to about 135 in the cab during a race in the summer. I've nearly passed out a couple nights when I got out of the car. The heal on my right shoe would melt down over a season. LOL Anyway, the adhesive type works. I never had a problem with it peeling off. We install in inside the car, so if you covering it with carpet, you don't care what it looks like. But if your doing carpet, I would just use the standard under carpet materials since it will add a little padding too.
