It's the same size cam that you'd typically see on a 370, but with the extra cubes, it's quite nice.

FYI, you're probably not going to find a used Aster bracket setup. The only time people sell them is if they are moving away from their current setup and either going turbo or direct mount.

Honestly, it's money well spent, even at full price. When you look at the benefit of going to a better water pump, plus the 8-rib, spring loaded tensioner vs the stock j-bracket, it's really not much of a price increase.

As far as intercooler, I'm making nearly 900 at the wheel through a ebay 4" thick intercooler, so it's not bad at all.
That sounds awesome. I had the stainless works on my turbo car. I liked it.

I'm honestly thinking about doing a forged ls3 (stock crank) 6.2 now with a d1sc with helical gears to be the ultimate sleeper. I think I can still reach my goals with the 6.2 yet have better fuel economy and less piston skirt wear over time. I want to stick with aluminum block for less weight, I won't ever push it past 900hp anyway.

Hard decisions 😔

For me, I had gone through the same thought process as you. My goal was as much torque in the 2500-5000 range as possible, since that's where I drive most of the time. I enjoy back road corner carving, so I'm not doing highway pulls or racing people. So I decided that a forged crank was a worthwhile investment, and figured the extra cubes would be nice as well, hence the 4.00" crank. As far as piston wear was concerned, if I get 10,000 miles, that's a solid 9-10 years for me, so I can deal with pulling the pistons and rods and doing a refresh at that time.

I had a D1SC with my stock cube motor, and was planning on staying with it till I had an F1A drop in my lap. I had a buddy who was itching to buy my D1, and kept telling me that with those cubes, I needed a bigger blower anyway. So when a used F1a dropped in my lap, it was a no brainer.

I'm not even spinning the F1A to max yet... but I'm at the end of my fuel setup, so I won't ever spin it any harder. I'm happy with my setup as it sits.

D1SC would be better for a stock cube LS3 vs a stroked one.

Found me a d1sc helical gears I'm going to trade. Guy is looking for an f1a . So that works well.

Undecided on compression. I would like to bump it to 10:1 of it would be safe.

I second the aster bracket , i had all sorts of issues last year and its finally sorted out and the aster bracket is great . My p1sc-1 is making 13 lbs at 6k with a 3.7 and a 8.65 crank pulley .

Im on tech multiple times a day and almost never see a used bracket . Bite the bullet and do it from the start . I wish i didnt go 6 rib , 8 rib with sdce and then aster .

10.1:1 is fine. I ran 10.7:1 on 93 octane just fine.

Got some new exhaust parts in. Tsp 1 7/8 headers, y pipe, flowmaster 4" merge, 4" cutout. Going to run 4" back as far as possible then connect it to 3.5" stainless works catback .

I think you'd be surprised at how well the Stainless works 3.5" catback flows. I made 860rwhp through one.

Close to mine. I love Cam Motion cores. That's all Futral Motorsports uses.

Which stainless works exhaust did you have? Their 3.5"? Did you make (I think it was almost) 900whp with it?

I also have the stainless works 3.5" catback, and made 860rwhp with a slipping belt (my fault, put the idler pulley in the wrong spot) and through the air filter, which I've since found out is restrictive.

So once I change those two things, I may put it back on the dyno to see if I crack that 900 nut.

Yes, that flat spot in the torque curve is tire spin on the dyno... guess the 19" R888s aren't enough.

I am sure you will see a lot our of a little less belt slip and a little more air The Alchemest, You car has really become an awesome one. I am glad we were a part of it as well.
