Default Why are there so few TVS 5.3's?

I've been searching around for a while now and the only 5.3's i see with positive displacement blowers are trucks and the numbers they put down are very low for them. Can only assume that this is because of all the power loss from an auto trans and big heavy drivetrain loss.

I am curious why you don't see more? Is it just because the 5.3 is a "budget" build and a maggie isn't cheap (but turbocharging can be)?

I've been looking to see if there is anyone with a 5.3/tvs190002300 that has put some solid numbers down.

turbocharging is much cheaper than a Maggie. we put a tvs2300 on my fathers srt8 and when I saw the price of the kit I nearly fell over lol.. but his car makes great power with the kit but its hard to justify the 6k it cost him

I had a Maggie & loved it.
With that said , they barley fit in an F body. We are limited to an old MP112 & the likes. When it came time to upgrade the TVS system just wouldn't fit without even further & intrusive modification. For that reason they are not a simple alternative which results in just a couple of builds with PD style blowers.
You may find a few builds that include some of the modification necessary ... Just a few.

I stopped researching sometime ago however, some of the newest version of a PD may be a little lower in profile & will allow easier fitment under the hood.

If it's info you need, the GTO site has an abundance of users.

I did a fair amount of research on these type of blowers for a 4th gen F-body, and bottom line is this; there are basically zero companies that make them specifically for a 4th gen F-body, and the few ones that do are charging an exorbitant amount of money for them.

Hawks third generation have made a TVS blower fit under the F body cowl with very little trimming.

Use a LSA blower. Its a tvs1900. Get small bore rectangular port heads or adapter plates. On a 6.2 the blower may be a bit on the light side but on a 5.3 it will rick the house.

We run TVS 2300 by Magnuson on our 2010 Camaro drag car. It has been 5.78 to the 1/8th so far with IRS, TH400 and a 416" ls3.

Our new Mustang sales tech's personal 2015 Mustang has been 8.90 at 154 with a VMP TVS on his stock displacement forged 5.0 through a stock auto trans as well. They can make power, just not as common in the f-body realm for some reason. The budget turbo route has seemed to take over this market
