LM7 5.3L Forced Induction Suburban build / questions
Hello all! Long time reader first time poster so be easy on me please haha. Anyways, I'm currently in the process of totally redoing an old 2001 Suburban with my father. We build trucks all the time and have so far upgraded brakes, lifted it 6 in, new front end, appropriate body work, flowmaster super 44 exhaust, and a rebuilt 4L60E transmission with a shift kit. The LM7 ironblock 5.3l in it currently knocks like a sonofab**** and is pushing 200k miles in despriate need of a rebuild. Plans are to totally rebuild the motor but with some upgrades (cam, heads, pistons, etc) in mind. Also, turbo or supercharging the truck was something him and I wanted to do. We looked into procharge but really didn't want to spend more than 3-4k on whatever we might strap to the motor. As far as the 5.3l I was going to go with an LS6 Cam, ported heads (dont know too much about which ones are good for the $), and flat top pistons to replace the dished (not sure if needed). Are there any good turbo/SC kits for the 2001 tahoe / burban? Will my motor after upgrades be adaquate? Hopes were between 400-500 hp to the wheels, planning on a beefed 4L80 after the 4l60 goes.
TLDR: Rebuilding an old lm7 5.3 for forced induction, not sure what to stuff in the motor (ls6 cam, ported heads maybe?) any turbo/SC for 2001 tahoe or burb?
Ive seen what people do with these iron blocks and they seem to stand up to boost crazy good for not much $. any input is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Pull it out, clean it, clean it again, fix the knock, bolt on the turbo/cheap intercooler, spend the money you would've on ported heads and pistons and spend it on a good cam, run it at 8-10 psi. Also, address the fuel system with some 60 or 80 # injectors. I think you'll be plenty surprised at how it runs.
