Back at the old EPP shop we were at 809 rwhp with this CTS-V with an LS2/402 with 9.5/1 compression, AFR heads, my blower cam, LS2 intake and an F-1A at 14.4 psi. We swapped the LS2 intake for a FAST 92, and we lost 2 psi of boost, but the rwhp went from 809 to 864! Bob

That is an impressive gain. I haven't seen similar gains on the few cars I have seen it compared on but I guess every combo is different. Maybe I will try one some day but I just don't trust the fast at higher boost after the seeing some people have issues with leakage on them.

The old FAST 90's were terrible under boost, but the newer 92 and 102 intakes hold up well. Anything made of polymer will eventually crack, older LS6 intakes are starting to have problems, as are the end tanks of GM radiators. Bob

interesting chart Bob, thanks for posting. I wasn't happy with the FAST on my old setup but it was an old fast90 setup.

We do a bunch of builds just like yours. My experience is run no filter on the blower(just screen) and I never use FAST intakes on builds like these. We do a lot of swapping to ls3 head/intake or run edelbrock/aaron 90 setup's.

Is running just a screen on the street safe? I also cant run ls3 intake bc i have trickflow cathedrals. I havent heard of the new fast 102s blowing up under boost lately like the 90s so i am going to take the chance. Unless i can fit a holley hi ram under there

As for the lines connecting to the stock bucket. I see some people drill through the plastic and have an elbow fitting right to the pump which looks like the right way to go.

Is there any draw backs from having the screw type push connect fittings to-8an that russell sells?
The Racetronix 340s will get the job done. However, you will have to change to thier heavier duty wiring harness.

so its been a while since I have posted not to much has happened on the car work wise but more parts came in like the cam, 15 x 10 weld rts, all gaskets, bolts etc.

have a few more questions on my build tho

1. would the gfx rings be sufficient? I always loved total seal especially for boost or spray but I cant find the wiseco ring width for a 4.005 bore in their catalog. I tried contacting them with no response. if someone knows a part number that would be great.

2. I heard in another thread that yella terra was coming out with an ultralight rocker specifically for trickflows. is this true? also tried contacting yella terra with no answer.

3. where is everyone getting there aluminum piping for fabbing up your own intercoolers? I am set on the procharger front mount since its sufficient but I want to do atleast a 4 inch from tb to intercooler. also I read they need to be bead rolled? where could I purchase a tool to do that?

4. also thinking of stepping up to the 3.5 inch collector on the kooks. would this be a big benefit vs cost factor of me having to get a custom 3.5 y made?

5. I see that fast came out with mid length runners for rectangular. any chance in the future they are going to come out with them for cathederals? I think it would definitely benefit for me in the 6,000-6800 range

Check ebay for piping, and 3" is enough I think, but I guess 4" doesn't hurt. I have a few joints that aren't bead rolled, and if you use quality clamps, quality couplers, and then spray the coupler with some strong hold hairspray, it will hold. Yes, hairspray. It's essentially a glue, and allows it to slide on nice and easy, then let it set, and it will hold.

I pressure tested my setup to a little over 30psi, and all the joints held fine. I'm only seeing 16-17psi at 6000rpm, so I'm good to go.

Attachment 563807

My ultra H beams came in today! Going to get a dragonslayser crank with my tax return and will pretty much have my motor complete. Debating to pony up for a superdeck 4 bolt block or keep my stock ls2 though. Been slow since the last update. Took on some home renovation projects so the car is on hold

Aluminum blocks can handle more than 1000 hp when built correctly.
The 6 bolt Superdeck I Short blocks are available with the ultimate in rotating parts with Callies Ultra Billet Rods, Callies Crankshaft and Wiseco or Ross pistons. These short blocks are capable of producing up to 1500HP. ARP main stud kit included and installed.
