I'm onboard with all but the 4.56 gears. I don't understand that choice.

Interested in your choice of 4.56 gears? Trying to sort out a prospective turbo 6.0 setup and have been told to ditch my 4.88 gears. 60e? tire size?

Well
It has 31 inch tall tires stock, that and 4.56 gears at 6500 in 3rd is like 130 wich is plenty fast for this

It'll make that gutless 4.8 feel good out of boost in this 5000+ lb truck and take some load off the 60e pushing the whole setup around.

We don't plan on land speed racing it so I ask, why not 4.56

Interesting. Makes me wonder if 4.88 wouldn't be too bad in my setup with 29" tires, the deep MN6 T56 gear spread, and it being a heavy *** truck.

That truck looks like it is in pretty good shape. How many miles are on it and what did you give for it? Don't mean to be all up in your personal business so ignore if you don't want to answer. I'm just curious what kind of money a truck like this would bring.

I've started using Howards cams over the Trick Flow stuff (and I've used a lot of the 2 Trick Flow cams). They're the same price as the 228/230 and you have a LOT more options. There are probably 6 cams in between the 216/220 and 228/230 that ship same day from Summit.

I'm interested to see how this turns out. A cam that big on a 4.8 with a turbo is either going to make great top-end, or fall hard on its face depending on backpressure.

We run a very similar cam in my buddies 48L SAAB AWD and it runs great in a heavy vehicle with good driveability and 113 LSA.

Can also grab the low lift cams with moderate duration and tight LSA. They retain low overlap to keep turbo stuff happy and sound mean.

Edelbrock 2215 cam was super responsive on my 4.8 turbo 280z and the idle sounded mean.

Howards makes a LS GM hotcam clone that I'm trying on the new build, It's low lift as well and they sound aggressive in the youtube vids.
