I understand the process... I'll slowly bring timing up until it stops gaining on the dyno, then back it off a hair for safety. Just wondering what people run for timing at 7psi (understanding that each car varies). Thanks for the responses!

Just a little spin from a first gear roll. Lol. M/T Pro 275's.

After purchasing a turbo car, I won't ever go back to N/A.

Only 18 degrees of timing at WOT. E85.

Get the car on the dyno!

Thanks for all the input. I suspect I burned they a plug wire today... Car ran like **** and stft's separated from each other (1 bank adding fuel and the other trying to remove fuel). Car shook under load (cruising and during takeoff).

"Only" 18 degrees of timing??? How much boost are you running with that timing?

I agree.
On only 8 psi it wouldn't do anything but spin on half lifed et streets. It'll have to get put on the dyno when it gets turned up.

Now that I have the suspension "dialed in" better, and on a biasply it will hook top of 2nd. (Auto)

I dont remember how soon my timing is locked at 15* but I think peak tq,was a yr ago I had it tuned. The new setup Im working on might need a few changes and on the dyno again so that will be a question is ask within a week or so. I plan on trying c16 and 18psi of boost to crank a number and then leave it safe for the street and 94 pump gas.

18 degrees is actually fairly conservative, at least for this particular setup. I'll be running all the way to 25psi with that timing.

The previous owner ran around 22-24 degrees I believe. The e85 really allows a lot more with it's knock resistance.

I'm at 18 degrees at 7psi on my 10:1 compression pump 93/meth sbe 5.3 it starts coming out faster after that. 15 psi im at 14 degrees and 17 psi im at 11 degrees.

So I built new wires. This kit is a nightmare from a maintenance perspective. I had to drop the downpipe to get the drivers manifold off since the vband clamp is pinched up against the downpipe when assembled. Jon at Huron has great service though... That's the great thing about buying Huron kits.

Update: Did new plug wires... Feels like I just gained 100hp. The car now lights the tires up from a second gear roll @ 7psi... A/f at 9.8-10.8 (car is showing richer now) and 11 deg @ peak tq and 15 @ peak hp. Still need to dial it in and then do the meth, but wow... What difference with new wires!

Glad you are getting it dialed in. I was going to say it sounds like a spark issue. When I first got my car going I was pretty disappointed too. I had a bad set of stock ls1 coils that would not light everything off under boost. Soon as I swapped to my buddies Ls2 gto coils on the dyno I think I gained 80 rwhp? After that I bought a set of the D 585 truck coils, fire core wires and I never had spark issues again. 15 degrees up top is plenty of timing especially for an ls3.

I was betting you were going to find something in the turbo/engine setup wasn't working right. Your A/F and timing wasnt THAT far off that it should have felt like a dog. A hacked together setup at 7psi on top of a 450+RWHP NA setup should pull pretty hard. Glad you figured it out.

I ended up using MSD Super Conductor wires (121-32073 at Jegs) that you cut to length and crimp on 45 degree LS coil connectors. They come with 90 deg plug boots on one end and straight on the other. I cut off the straight and used the 90's.
