Default 5.98 @ 118.8 - SBE LQ4, S480, 4L80E, E85, MS3Pro

Figured I would throw this up here since not everyone likes to click through build threads.

I drove the car over 3 hours roundtrip and set a personal best in ET and 60' off the footbrake. Made it to the finals in the "Fast 4" race as well. Safe to say that I am happy. DA wasn't the greatest either but was still hoping to get that 5 second pass. Next time I will get it for sure.

My first pass after going through tech was a 6.17 @ 115. Then I went 6.08 @ 116, 6.05 @ 116.5, and then I got the 6.02 @ 117. I increased boost by 2-3 lbs. and dropped the timing down for the best pass. Boost bounced around a bit from 17-18 and timing was 15* I believe. It was pretty humid out and the DA was close to 3000'. I blew the tires off in the final race so that run was botched. Don't think I did a big enough burnout and the track was going away at that point.

I am going to leave it all alone for the rest of the year and hope to get it consistently in the 5's with better air this fall. As of now the car is definitely working for what it is. Doing a 1.38 60' on the footbrake makes me very happy.

Nice job man!
Congrats.
Took me a year of sneaking up on the tune and boost to get my first five.
And a nicly prepped track.

Thanks! The next time I run the car will be September 10th at a local no prep event. I know I don't have a chance to win it but hoping I can get lucky and go a couple of rounds. Hopefully the weather is a little better as well.

Very nice! Especially like that you're doing it foot-braking.

I'm not going to lie, I was a little upset I spent the money on it at first. When the car was first going this year I was wishing I spent it on a transbrake. Now that I have gotten the car to be pretty consistent and 60'ing like it does, I absolutely love the MS3. It has already saved me a couple of times when I got a little greedy before it was tuned up top. I have had to do very little "tuning" as well, which is good in my case not knowing a whole lot. I have had a friend mess with idle stuff a little and I have let the auto tune take care of everything else. It's working out really well.

Thanks! I was shocked at how consistent it's going low 1.4X's and was pumped when it went 1.38. I was worried about being able to cut a light but I have the "bump" down pretty well now. I light the first bulb, come up on the 2-step, slowly let off the brake to roll into the 2nd light all while keeping my foot to the floor, then I am ready. It worked flawlessly for me.

Wassup fellow no transbrake friend! HA.

What does your 2 step bump at? Mine is 2600. Around 2700 just footbraking is when the brakes start to let go so it's right on the threshold. My converter isn't that loose.

Congrats bro! You'll be in the 5s before you know it. I am very impressed with the 1.3x 60fts on footbrake. If you dont mind me asking, what suspension mods do you have?

Thank you. I haven't weighed it recently. At one time it was around 3450 with me in it. Since then there has been some weight reduction but I have also added the cage. I need to get it on some scales. I am hoping to borrow a buddies set here soon.

It was set at 3450.

Thanks man. Upfront is a BMR turbo k-member and strange SA's. I have subframe connectors, trick chassis short torque arm, founders LCA's and panhard, trick chassis anti-roll bar, and some baller Comp Engineering drag shocks, ha. Not the most ideal setup but it seems to work ok right now. I know if I ever add a transbrake and hit the tires harder I am going to need some better rear shocks.

Here's a question for you guys in the know. My converter obviously does a good job down low but the slip through the 1/8th is 22-25% depending on boost level. It's a triple disc so I can lock it at WOT though. Would I be a fool to lock it up in 2nd gear at 6300 RPM or so? Last year I locked it at WOT in 3rd and RPM dropped from 6250 to 5200 or so. I also don't want to put much more strain on these Gen 3 rods as I know their time is coming.

Not sure it would help me much in the 1/8th or not.

For those CE drag shocks, that thing is HOOKING good. Not to mention that trick chassis roll bar is helping out a lot as well. Your suspension may not be "ideal" as you say, but working very well. Keep up the great work!

It's a Circle-D 2B 258MM triple disc. I like it down low but up top it's showing a ton of slip. The car hasn't picked up the MPH I think it should have while turning it up. I have talked with them and they think they can get it tighter up top without sacrificing much, if any spool time on the footbrake. I don't have time to send it back though before the next event I want to do.

Well very nice ride you'll be in the 5s no prob. I just did an 80 swap and running one of Lenny's converters from ultimate converter concepts I'm excited to get to the track with it

Locking the converter would probably pick it up, but like you said, it's going to put a huge torque load spike on those rods

Best thing to do is to get the converter tightened up. But of course we all know what that means.

I bought an engine diaper and will be installing that before the next time out. I want to run a 5 second pass but won't get too greedy.

I might try locking it in 2nd on lower boost and see what happens though.

Nice man, a buddy of mine has a combo very similar to yours. Only real difference, is he has a bigger BW turbo, and then he has a th400. But he is gen 3 sbe, and on e85. He already hit a 5.95 on the old cast s475, so we are looking for a solid 5.80 or better hopefully. Going to the track tomorrow, so we'll let ya know.

Edit: here is the link to his page.
