Default GTX55 398 Fox Update

This car has been threw a lot of different revisions -

V1 - Picked it up from a member on this board around 4 years ago when it was smurf blue with 4 lug, stock 5.3, TH400 and a S484 running on pump gas....Car ran consistent 10.3's int that configuration. It lasted for a year or so and was enjoyable.

V2 - Painted the car Satin Black (Base black, satin clear), switched to a stock crank, forged rod, forged piston, 317 head motor with a Twin 70MM A2W set up. Car went a best of 9.1 at 164mph off the foot brake. Making serious power as a highway brawler in Chicago.

V3- Moved to North Carolina for work and hooked up with an amazing shop Bigun Customs manned by Eric Yost. Decided to go more towards the race end of the spectrum and put together a max effort 4 bolt head deal. Its a 3.90 stroke, 4.030 bore 6.0 block, Trick Flow Heads, with some max effort things to keep heads down and mains in place. Switched to a single GTX5518R ball bearing set up with a giant dry ice box intercooler. Had the car wrapped in 3M Dark satin grey. Enjoy...

Car is SUPER light now. Far lighter than I ever imagined, way too light to run anything like 275 or Ultra.. But might allow me to push whats been done to date on a 4 bolt head.

That is a sick.... build. Pretty much everything I would ever want to do with a fox and LS. In for dyno and 1/4 results!

Thanks.

It was super reasonable. $1700. The cost was driven down a lot because everything was naked already, meaning carbon doors stripped and bare, front end stripped and bare. Cars that have lots of trim to remove get into the $3K range pretty quickly.

I could not bring myself to paint it because taking the one piece front end on and off a lot is bound to make dings, nicks and scratches. With the wrap when it gets too bad I'll just re wrap that one portion. Perfect for a race car.

Definitely. I am going to be wrapping my car probably in the next few months. I think wrap is an awesome idea for both a racecar, and if you purchase a brand new vehicle.

I have plasti-dipped all kinds of **** and while its great looking at first, if you get a knick, it just rolls back over time and all has to be removed and resprayed....does this seem to do the same or is it more durable?

Vinyl is WAY stronger than plastidip and in no way should be in the same category.

And looks 10x better.

But, Plasti dip is 10% of the cost LOL. As always, pick your poison!

Curious about your "max effort" 4 bolt journey. I'm doing the exact same thing. Would you care to share all of the modifications that were done in an effort to address the head lifting issues?

This is what I've done:

0.030" over iron 6.0 block with a full fill

Welded the decks shut on the heads (there will only be water in the heads as the decks are now completely dry)

1/2" head studs

-6 AN cooling lines enter the heads on the exhaust side aiming water flow directly at the combustion chamber

Steam vents have been drilled to fit -10 AN lines to return water to the radiator

Cometic gaskets

I retarded the cam I have been running about 5* to help bring peak torque rpm up

Switch over to a 100% methanol fuel system (15 gpm belt drive pump and 16 ID2000 injectors)
