Default boost control

I've done a lot of thread chasing with no real answers

What is everyone using for boost control
manual, electronic, two stage etc
what works best for a set and forget system, and what works best for an adjustable on the fly system

pics of your setup would also be appreciated

my build is down to the plumbing and need some guidance on this

car will be 75% street 25% drag and is a twin 70mm, 6l setup, will be hp tune on a stock 2005 pcm

Since you are using a factory ECU your best option would be some sort of separate electronic controller. The Turbosmart eboost or the AEM truboost are two good options.

AMS 500 V2. It is a time based controller.

Really it depends on how much you want to spend. The range is somewhere between $10 and $1000.

I've used both the AEM TruBoost and the Turbosmart Boost Tee(Manual).
Truboost
  • Modes: Off, Setting one, Setting two, 'Scramble'
  • Has a 'History' function(Press and hold button for 2 seconds). Shows highest boost attained since started/Reset.
  • Customizable settings for settings 1, 2 and 'scramble'. Examples: Set setting one to 10 psi, set setting two to 15psi and set 'scramble' to 21psi.
  • Toggle which boost setting (off, setting 1 or setting 2) with the press of a button while driving.
  • Activate 'scramble' (example: you're racing someone and the dirtbag is starting to pull away. Press button and you're now at that PSI you'd set for 'scramble') by pressing a separate button(Momentary button that is normally 'off') that applies 12v.
  • You can set an alarm (Gauge flashes red) if you overboost(you stipulate what PSI threshold that is)
  • Method of controlling boost is use of a solenoid that pulses to bleed off pressure and articulate the waste gate. So as it approaches the PSI you've designated, it 'softly' hits it . Meaning, it doesn't wait till say 15psi THEN open. It starts pulsing to gradually limit the psi.

Turbosmart Tee
  • Use click **** to dial up or dial down the desired PSI.
  • Keeps waste gate closed until desired PSI is reached, THEN opens. This desired by several racers I know.
  • Inexpensive and easy to install(no firewall aperture required)
