Default Log Manifold question.

I see a lot of these log manifold setups that look really clean and seems like the simplest way to do the hot side if the chassis configuration allows for it...
My concern is all that weight hanging off a aluminum cylinder head. Do most people brace the turbo to the block? Is a log manifold setup ok for a T6 borg turbo considering its size and weight. Also has anyone had issues with one cracking yet, may it be homemade or one from kb racing/trick manifold?

If you use one of the logs mentioned you won't have issues. Myself and plenty others have been running Borg's on them no problem.

I'm running a kb racing log manifold in my g body. Excellent craftmanship, and it's made very sturdy

The trick logs are now cast stainless. KBracings are mild steel. Both will serve the same purpose. A lot of truck guys use both with big t6 turbos without any bracing. No issues.

Thanks guys. Just seems like a lot of weight hanging on the manifold bolts into a aluminum head. But if it works great.

u can install some studs to help with mounting and alignment to the head.

I thought the same thing orig., I have the KB manifold going on 2 years now,
no problem-guys have done Drag Week using them
The bolt holes on the head are not in a perfect line, a little offset, so that gives a little more stable bolt system

there's six 8x1.25 bolts with better than double the major diameter thread engagement. thats a metric ****-ton of fastening power.

a good practice is to egg the holes in plane with the length of the log, as it tend to grow with heat (and it'll see a lot in a turbo app)

studs are nice. my personal pref is to stay away from stainless fasteners for exhaust. it's more trouble than it's worth, especially going into aluminum. unless it's all you got, then find a badass hi temp anti-galling compound and dont rattle gun them in

All good info thanks again. The log manifold setup will make it clean and simple in a S10 platform that we are working with.

Yeah, they are plenty strong to hang even the heavest of BW or Garrett turbos on them. Been building them for about 10 years, hundreds of them. Sced40 steel pipe. Only ever had one guy pretty much destroy one, cracked and warped... He thought he could make a diesel pulling type truck out of his gas rig and pull 10K+ loads as hard as it would run through mountains! lol

Zero...I am just excited about it because for the first time I can put together a simple turbo system without doing a bunch of custom ****.

Ppfftttt cast incconel is were it's at!

(Inconnel holds heat much better than stainless and can be made thinner as it maintains its strength at higher temps)
