Default Please Help me Select an LT1 Blower Cam!!!

These are the following mods I will have on my 96 SS with a stock bottom end and Compression Ratio.

-STrim with front mount intercooler running a 6# pulley
-58mm Throttle Body
-port matched intake manifold
-ported LT1 heads with stock valves
-AS&M 1 3/4" headers
-4" mufflex exhaust with offroad pipe

What cam would you recommend I get??? I'm from Canada and I'll have to pass emission testing (which is not as strict as California). The cam I'm looking at right now is the CompCams XE 218/230 with .495/.510 lift on a 114LSA. Is this a good cam? I'm concerned that this cam will not make good power on the top end. Is this true? Would I be better off with the XE 224/236??? I'm wanting my car to pull to 6000-6100rpm. I really like the powerband my hotcam makes on my NA setup. Is there a blower cam that can do this?

Thanx for you time. Your advise would be greatly appreciated!!!!

For a supercharger, generally speaking if you get a cam with a minimum of a 6 degree split between the intake and exhaust duration you won't be second guessing yourself later. For racier setups folks will go with 8 to even 14 degree splits (depending on max rpm, cylinder head ports). I think any LT1 cam in the 224/230 area is going to be decent and can be shifted below 6500.

IMO, keep the stock cam for now.

You can make enough power with a stock cam to break the stock pistons, so I wouldn't change it unless you rebuilt the bottom end.

If you have a HC in there now, might as well leave it and put the $$$ to building a better bottom end like Jim is saying. You can source rebuildable LT1's for $500-1000 complete and build one on the side.
