Default Bosch 420L Fuel Pumps - FI Max Horsepower

I am looking at fuel pumps to support my 1000 FWHP blown 406 sbc with Vortech YS. I considered the Weldon 2025 which appears to be excellent, except is VERY LOUD apparently.

How much FI power will a dual Bosch 420L system support. It appears to be a very popular setup on this forum. (pro-stock-john).

What is the Part# for these pumps.

What cars do them come in from the factory.

Thanks....

The Weldon 2015, 2025..,. 2045 stuff is really excellent. But big race pumps like those are pretty loud. You can get a Weldon dial-a-flow for say street driving, that would allow you to dial down the voltage and then the pump would not work as hard and it would of course not be as loud.

I actually bought the stepdown but then sold it to a GN guy with a 2025. I could see me forgetting to tune it back up and hurting stuff, cuz I am not that smart.

Dan @ speed inc is running dual 420L's I believe and has made 890rwhp with his stick shift YSi Mustang.

I think a dual 420L setup with the right lines and rails should handle that fine. At least I hope so. That is what is going in my CE. Looking for 900+ RWHP.

We run a Magna Fuel pump on the Formula and that thing is loud. Not my idea of stealthy.

I am running a single 420L and i was thinking about running dual pumps, but i have decided against it...... ill be selling my single Bousch 420L here soon and going with a Weldon 2025 probably..... I just dont want to take the chance of one not working....

How long will a 420L last. Could i take a road trip on the car and not have to worry about my fuel pump taking a dump on me.

So Are their reliability questions with the Bosch Pumps that make you think that they want last.

I've been running my bosch pump in my daily driver for 6 months now and havent had any problems -- although its back to stock for the time being so its just circling fuel most of the time.

No No nothing like that..... with the new turbo setup i just dont want to take the chance of going into boost and only one pump being on........ If it one loud weldon pump i know its on ha ha We will see i havent fully made up my mind yet...... ive been running mine now for quite a while...... about 2500 miles and about 3 or 4 trips to San Antonio .... about 175 miles each way 350 round trip, no problems and i even got out and checked the pumps temp..... warm to the touch not hot..... i would reccomend this pump to anyone......... Heres mine now

If i do go with dual 420L's il run both feeds out of my sump into each pump into a Y-block to the front of the car thru -8an line to keep fuel pressure up..... then back into another Y-block at the rails and feed both lines independently. There a great pump and priced really well at $350.... you can get them even cheaper then that so shop around.....

I just went to Speed inc web site. They have a full kit pump to rails for 1k said it would suport 900fwhp. Wander if I will have to run dual 420L to keep the presure up. Looking to make 700rw. I did the guess on drive train loss. You know 15% and i will have 805 or so but i will never know. Do you think a single will handle it or should i just step it up to duals.

I got the twins on my car, you can see how they are setup in some of my webshots photos in my profile......

I've only put about 660rwhp through it so far.......It would be close to 700 with a better converter......I'm gonna get it down the track this upcoming season w/its current power level and setup, and work with it from there....

I am planning on going with the same fuel system MM has done... twin intanks on all the time with a boost-a-pump. So it should be quiet, reliable and support all the hp I will want for quite awhile.

I called about the speed inc kit but got the impression from the guy that it wasn't good for a lot of daily driving/street use and you had to always keep at least a 1/4 of a tank in it due to having the port screwed into the tank in the corner.

Goober, look on MM's site, he has already done 840rwhp without a boost-a-pump and the twin intank with the right lines/rails/reg.

Cool Would u say that is over kill on the fuel presure or is it right on the money. I am doing my homework so i dont have to go out and buy last min parts.

I would say if you stuck with the same convter and had a 4l60e you would be at the 700mark.

I am going for 700 but if i get above 650 i will be very happey. Just depends on how hard i want to push the motor.
BTW we have the same motor and same CR.

Rice- i will look at his site. I am just getting ideas right now. Got to learn before i do.

You don't have to run anymore than stock fp, it just depends on your reg setting.... provided your return line (stock pressure line) isn't too small, which it's not for that set-up. If you are running decent sized injectors you can run a lot lower base fp (like 43psi w/o vacuum) and let the injectors do the work. The more FP you run, the less fuel the pumps are actually flowing.
Mototron 60's with that fuel set-up will get you where you want to be.

I was thinking of going with a 1;1 reg. So i would start with 43psi and it would rise to what ever i needed so i could run 8-15psi of boost(just a number) and not warry about A/F

I just need a more efficient converter......

My 4000 P.I. for my TH400 flashes to 6300rpms, gooooobs up power......

A TCT is in the future, probably a 3600.....I am considering spraying the car on top of what it has now down the future......

goober, whats your overall setup consist of.......that 3400 in my Th400 car would flash mid 5500's most like still on my car......it needs more of a race style converter....
