Question Anyone Do A SMC Alky Kit Using Factory WS Washer Reservoir?

Has anyone retrofitted an SMC Alky Injection Kit into their factory WS Washer Reservoir bottle?

I was thinking of using the kit with the MAF Variable Speed Controller, but instead of using supplied bottle - installing pertinant fittings into my stock WS Washer Tank and using the factory level sensor for the alky level. I just don't have the room for yet another item under the hood.

Unless you guys with experience have a better idea? Pics of a custom set-up such as this would be much appreciated.

TIA,
-Jay-

Imn ot 100% sure of what you are asking. But if your looking for a good place to put the meth at. Maybe do a battery relocation to the trunk and then put in a 3 gallon fuel cell. Im not sure if thats what your looking for, but hope it helps some.

I did, but I don't have any good pics at the moment. It turned out pretty good though. If you decide to do it I'll try and help you through it.

Hmmmm. Maybe I could set up my washer tank and pump with VHT......... Send lines to spray on the rear tires.........

Yeah, like I have enough power to need that. Sneaky assed idea though .

PewterWSSicc- I would do that but the nitrous tank is already in the spare tire well

BlwnTA- sounds promising then - did you use the SMC kit? Look forward to getting some pics.

MIGHTYMOUSE- That's what I'm talking about

1CAMWNDR- way back when in the 70's I new a kid that installed a WS washer tank with pump in his trunk with lines running thru wheelwells and spray nozzles over his tires. He'd put water/bleach combo in the tank, hit the button, spray bleach on his tires, and then do some huge burnouts. Don't know if his car would have turned the tires over without the bleach!

I'm not sure if that kit comes with a solinoid or a check valve, but if not make sure your nozzle(s) is higher than the highest level of fluid that's possible in that resevior. From what I understand, hydro-lock is not fun.

I had planned to install the nozzle in the plenum which is definitely higher than the WS washer tank

I did the SMC alky kit with the WS res. But I sent mine in and it was cut in half. So I still have a fully finctioning WS pump and res. it just holds half as much as it used to.

Did you send it in to SMC to have it modified? If so, do you mind telling me the cost?

Do you have any idea what the capacity is of half the tank?

I know, soooo many questions!

Thanks,
-Jay-

Yes I sent it away. In fact, while it was away I saw someone selling the WS res off their wrecked T/A and bought it for like $10 to have as a backup incase this didn't work. Steve(SMC) tried a prototype with mine. He had a new plastic welder and warned me that he couldn't garentee that it would work but he would give it a try. Well it did work and I think he was going to charge me a nominal amount(under $50), but he never ended up charging me anything extra since I bought the system through him. He's a very nice guy. *Not sure if he forgot or just decided not to charge anything extra... I didn't feel like pushing my luck by asking*

As far as capacity, I've never measured. But I'm sure you could get an idea. I mean what does a full washer hold, maybe a gallon? So half a gallon WS fluid, and half denatured alky.

I have pictures somewhere. I will look for them tonight.

Thanks for all the info - it's a great help! If you don't want to post the pics you can send them to jay442@msn.com

This sounds like the way I'm gonna go - but how long can a 1/2gal of alky possibly last? I want to run 7-8# boost, but with higher than stock compression 5.3L heads (I know, I should get another set - but I just installed these and then decided on a Procharger - I don't feel like changing out the heads right now) so I'm probably going to have to run a considerable amount of meth. The cam I have should be conducive to a FI set-up though.

I never drive the car in the rain (or snow God forbid) - can't even remember using the wipers or washers in the last (3) years - I might just go with the full tank for meth.
