Methanol definitly has better cooling properties. Plus, it is usually fairly cheap. I think I am buying it right now for about $1.40 per gallon, maybe cheaper.

I heard that alcohol will eventually start to corrode the fuel system. I plan on running meth myself....way down the road.

it will if you pour it in your tank, make things swell, like injector o rings etc. shouldn't have a problem with a nozzle though. Doesn't meth hurt the fuel system too after a while?

I don't see how meth is going to corrode your fuel systemn when it's not going anywhere near it..

I used a ton of meth on my last motor and when we opened it up it looked great.

Man, that drives me crazy! I pay $13 bucks for 1 gallon of denatured alcohol at the local hardware stores! I always thought that Meth would cost more. I made a custome alky kit that works really well when the boost hits. Makes the A/F ratio gauge read pig rich at 5psi. Thanks for the tip.
Question? Will it hurt to put the meth in the windshield washer tank. This is where I get the alky supply from. Should I use a separate tank?

The Denatured will not raise the octane its bassically strickly for cooling purposes, The Meth can deff take a toll on gaskets but it depends how it is plumbed. The Alci is cheap, affective and you can get it anywhere. If you used washer fluid use the stuff marked -20* there is more alcohol in that. Or you can just get Denatured alcohol and miw the solution yourself. Alci will raise the octane level but not significantly. I did a ton of research on the two because I am custom making a kit for my buddies Cavilier with the GM Charger (cant use an intercooler).

When you guys say denatured, do you mean isopropyl (rubbing alcohol)? Thats what I was going to use, but if it isnt affective then I should think of something else. What do you think?

denatured alky is in the paint section at Lowes and Home Depot. I think its used as paint thinner. Its labeled "denatured Alchohol" dont use "paint thinner"

I cant find anywhere that will ship it. Bradenton is an hour or so from me, but Id rather not take 2 hours out of my day to get meth. The local hobby shops carry nitrometh, but that may be a little too much
Anyone know if I could mix nitrometh with denatured alky? Would it be worthwhile? Would it be alright sitting in my alky tanks for a week or two at a time?

Just make the trip but buy like 15ga of it at a time. You shouldn't use more than that in 6/mo to a full year LOL. I still have over half of my 5ga jug still full even after 5mo of racing on the street and track. If I hadn't done the FMIC though I would have went through 5ga in 2weeks. Hahaha

I don't think so. I have never heard of it being used. I think there is a reason but it has slipped my mind.

I usually buy methanol by the 55 gallon drum. Tends to be cheaper that way. I just sold a local Mustang guy 10 gallons to use in his car, a non-intercooled vortech. Please, please, don't use 'nitrometh' bought from a hobby store. That is Nitromethane, CH3NO2, mixed with oil, for use in 2-cycle RC engines. This will not have the effects you want or need. Methanol and Nitromethane are two VERY different animals.
