Almost done!!!
The end is getting closer. Basically the only thing left to do is finish up painting a few items, install the coils and wires, put the front bumper back on, install the headlights, mount the wideband/O2 sensor, and build the Megasquirt/tune.
...oh, and we have to figure out what in the world we are going to do for a filter. We don't have much room to work with...maybe a few inches. Any ideas are appreciated.
Here are some pictures of this weekend progress:
Fabrication of the cold side piping
Power Steering Lines
WB/O2 guage

We knew that it would be alot of work. However, we didn't believe that we would have to do some of the things such as moving the steering rack, moving the motor over, and so forth. There are several things that with a little change would have worked perfectly. Brian is taking note of all the problems we ran into and getting back with Al at Stainless Works.
Tiago -- Brian really has no sense for pain. He also welded the tabs for the steering rack under the car wearing the same thing you see there. Crazy? Yes! When I weld, I always try to load up on as many layers of clothing as possible
Thanks for the heads up on that HKS filter. I will definately check that out!

Hey, if you don't have (much) weld spatter, who needs gloves?
I don't have the measurements, but its pretty darned close in there to fit an elbow on the turbo. we'll figure out something, I can always trim away some of the fan shroud to make some more room (3/4" or so). I am thinking of altering the radiator support a touch to stand the radiator up a touch more vertical, and push it a hair forward to gain clearance both at the top and bottom. We'll make it all work

a few burns to the wrists and arms you'll change your mind.
what sucks is when you have a long shirt, welding sleves and you still get burned through it, least it doesnt burn as bad.
MIG = the yuck.
i love my tig
anyway for the filter all you need is a 90* elbow and some elbow grease

Yeah, probably a week or so. We are still waiting on the MegaSquirt to arrive (shipped late last week) so we need to build and install that.
We're basically down to the "finishing touches" on the car. Just have stuff like:
- Mount the headlights and turn signals
- Install a couple stainless steel exhaust strap clamps to seal the crossover pipe
- Weld in a new O2 sensor bung in the proper location, and plug the original holes
- Paint all the cold side piping, then re-install
- Install the coils and wires
- Plug in the fuel rails
- Hook up all the vacuum lines to the BOV, WG, controller, etc.
- Install an air filter (and find an elbow that will fit )
- Fabricate a "bash bar" for in front of the intercooler - probably get Madman to help out on this one
- Put the wheels back on
- Put the battery back in
- Buy and install a belt that fits my fancy *** bracket
- Put the radiator hoses back on
- Get the car aligned (new control arms up front, relocated steering rack, etc.)
