I've heard of a few people, I'd kind of like to hear if there is anything new as well.

I bought a system from Star machine. It's on the car but I've not tried it yet. (still need to finish a few things and break in the motor).

Well, the pump, bracket, drive mandrel, belt, hoses, fittings, and oil seperator ended up around 1400. I'm sure you could get it done cheaper, but I went this route because these were the best parts (IMO) that I could find.

Any engine will end up with some pressure in the crankcase. Since forced induction or nitrous cars have more cylinder pressure, they can have more blowby past the rings than N/A. More crankcase pressure equals more frictional pumping losses. Of course this problem increases with higher rpm. Vacuum pumps free up horsepower, but they require a small amount to operate. The big question is whether the added complexity is worth what will probably be a very small HP increase at reasonable street rpms. 7000 or 8000 rpm strip motors definitely benefit quite a bit.

Vacuum pumps help keep the rings sealed, reducing ring blowby, and therefore increasing HP.

I didnt know either. I was thinkin maybe to stop easier or somehting lol. Not for nothign but doesnt jsut puttin a big *** breather on ya valve covers do the same? Where does all this pressure buildd up from? Unless ya have a significant blowby shouldnt there be not alot of pressure? GL

On my I have a GZ. The AC tensioner is a ribbed pulley so I just drove another pulley off of that and came up with the right rate as if I could have actually of fit a mandrel in there.. Not enough room..

On turbo cars use the adjustable relief valve and oversize or spin the pump a touch faster... This way it can maintain 15inches even under boost yet never exceed it.

On a V8 suck from one VC and put the valve on the other. On the 4g63 I pull from the oiginal breather and threaded the relief valve into the PCVs spot on the cam cover.

You dont suck vaccum you create vaccum to suck out pressurized gasses in the case. Pressure builds up as stated above and in some cases can even blow out your dipstick.

Some of us use the Z06 valley cover with the PCV fitting on it. I have that hooked to a fitting on the turbo inlet so that under boost the turbo sucks pressure from the case and I have breathers on each valve cover also. I do not get any oil in the turbo and it seems to work well but my setup is mild compared to others here. I copied this PCV setup off of Mighty Mouse.

I wonder if the pump pulley was big enough if you could run it off of the AC pulley for those that have taken out the AC (most racecars) lots of room under there now.

On your setup I would consider a catch can...

Do you think what I get from the valley cover is different than what you would get from the stock PCV system into the intake?? I havent noticed any oil at all?

A valve cover breather also helps reduce the crankcase pressure and also helps the rings seal and reduce ring blowby.

Yes but the pump will make about 50hp setup right on a forced induction engine where as a good breather system will just make about 5 and driveable...

hmm,
I might try something like this. I am wondering if its really worth all the expense.
setting it up shouldnt be too hard but its hard to pay 800 for a kit, when you can get a pump for a few hundred.
