Default LS1 Motorsports Single Turbo Initial Dyno Results !

I'm going to make this VERY brief, since we just pulled double all-nighters driving back and forth to Ed Wright's.

We got the kit 1st "finished" thurday night at about 8:00pm. However, we didn't get a chance to install the fuel pump. We then loaded up the 2001 TA project car, and drove all night (650miles) to Ed Wright's to make our 8am appointment.

On the very first pull (no tuning whatsoever, stock injectors, bone stock '01 TA M6), with a Precision T63 turbo and only 4.5-5lbs of boost, we made 463rwhp/478rwtq, with an A/F of 13.1:1. Since that was a little lean, we changed to the 37lb injectors. The injectors really tested the fuel pump. In fact, we were running the rail nearly dry (down to 45psi) at only 5200 rpm's. Had we been able to install the fuel pump, we would have EASILY been over 500rwhp. But to be safe, we cut the dyno pulls off at 5200. With a VERY rich tune of 11.6:1, we made 485rwhp and, get this, 592 rwtq at 7-8lbs of boost. Keep in mind, this was not a tq spike since the pull was made in 4th gear only.

A couple of side notes:

This was done through an exhaust cut-out, on pump 93 octane fuel, with a completely stock engine that dynoed 315rwhp prior to the turbo install. It has perfect street manners and virtually no turbo lag. We had full boost by 2400rpm's.

I'll start answering questions Sunday evening when I wake up.

Thanks for your patience and support. We think we have quite a kit to offer the public very soon.

Forgive me for being forgetful but would this be considered the stage 1 kit? Price points yet?

Also since I haven't done much research on the turbo plumbing, is it possible to run dual exhaust w/x-pipe with a turbo? Would that hurt/help/flip a coin?

And last, if I chose to install a cam...what type duration would I want...single/split...if split, more intake or exhaust and 112 or 114???

Sorry for so many questions that have probably been covered elsewhere! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Embarrassed]" src="gr_emb.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Hey Rob,
If i got the kit from you, What is the safest boost i can run without harming my engine. Would that be 5 PSI or i can do more(stock engine)?

Another question with this T-63 Turbo, Whats the potential on it? what i mean by that if i want to rebuilt my motor to hold more boost, would this turbo give me more power or i will have to get larger turbo?

Last question, How about if i try to inject Propane with the Turbo so i can raise the boost? I heard Supras, and 3000GT's get around 5 to 10 psi more just by injecting propane.

Sorry i'm excited about this turbo, thats why i had to ask all these questions. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Impressive!

Sounds like 500-550rwhp might be attainable with a stock longblock with a production turbo kit!

I'm personally very interested in building a turbo car.

I am another individual VERY interested in this kit. <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" /> But, i'm going to wait for more details and results from other more ballsy (and wealthy) customers.

Ah, I can't wait to hear a spoolin turbo on my car!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Great results, Rob!

Looks like you guys have a monster on your hands... and a hungry Turbo market waiting. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Thanks for your shop getting the brakes out to me. I need to get SFCs and a pan hard from you next, I guess.

Keep us up-to-date on the project!

Which will make roughly 450 rwhp with the complete fuel system, and safe A/F ratio. Pricing is still expected to be $5999, including Ed Wright tuning, Precision custom built T63 turbo, complete fuel system, Spearco Intercooler, HKS wastegate, SLP 85mm MAF, MSD 8.5mm plug wires, NGK plugs, ported '02 passenger manifold, all aluminum intercooler piping (fully polished finish optional), stainless exhaust piping and turbo piping, custom 4-ply silicone hoses (available in Red, Black, and Blue), stainless high pressure aircraft quality clamps, as well as every necessary nut and bolt to complete the install.
Being a single turbo kit, you could only run single exhaust.
As far as choosing a cam, that would depend on several things, such as transmission, engine mods, gearing, etc. Turbos typically work best with split cams that are slightly larger on the exhaust side. And either 112 or 114 lobe separations work fine. (though I personally prefer a 112)

BlackLS1TA - Thanks for your order. Let us know when you're ready for the SFC's and PHB.

MellowYellow - The C5 kit IS in the works. But no pricing or details for it yet.

Hope that answers everything so far.

Great response to my questions. So...would a 224/228/.563 112/114lsa be appropriate for a single turbo kit?

Actually with stock A4, stock 3.23s, holley intake, stock LS1 heads, sy3500, and Borla catback.

Would this be considered a mild/medium/aggressive cam?

If I had to choose one other mod, would my money be best spent on heads, tranny, or diffy to prepare for a turbo kit?

Thanks for your help! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

One more...sorry! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Embarrassed]" src="gr_emb.gif" />

What kind of longevity do turbos have. Obviously other vehicle components may fail but what about the turbo setup itself?

What would be most likely to need replacing first?

where does the intercooler mount? I hope its not blocking the radiator like the ATI prototype kit did, and causes overheating..... I'm really interested in this kit, I hope its perfect......

Even if the intercooler is over the radiator...like the turbotech, it shouldnt cause overheating. I actually think that is a pretty good place as you can really feel the air pull thru it when the fans are on and it stays nice and cool. Also mine has never had an overheating problem.
