LS1 Motorsports Turbo Kit Update - Please Read
Al Noe of Stainless Works (the company we contracted to build our turbo manifolds and piping) made a post on LS1.com.
I tried to post a link to thread here, but it wouldn't let me for some reason. So I'll just cut and paste his post below:
</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif"> Hi Guys
I am new to posting on LS1.com. The company I work for, Stainless Works, manufactures the turbo manifolds and pipes for LS1 Motorsports. Rob Raymer came to us today (after driving seven hours to make sure we address what needs to be addressed) with several issues we are addressing with the turbo kits.
Being a new product we shipped these to LS1 thinking everything was correct. Rob found out we had some issues and we need to take the time to tighten up the fixtures, make new parts as necessary, and get them shipped-unfortunately, we can't do this in a few hours. We expect to begin shipping complete kits to LS1 next week.
We had several issues with the jig allowing parts to be manufactured that would still fit in the jig, but were loose enough to cause a problem when bolting the kit together. These were our issues, not LS1MS.
I apologize for any problems that this has caused. We obviously want to make sure this gets resolved and we produce quality parts. LS1 is a great customer of ours and did not ask us to post this-we felt obligated to clear up any misunderstandings that may be flying around and assure you that you will indeed get your parts, but luckily only when we are sure we do our best to make them right.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Re: LS1 Motorsports Turbo Kit Update - Please Read
A little heads-up guys:
We received one of the new manifolds from Stainless Works this week and installed it on John Roosa's car. Fit was perfect. No issues whatsoever.
They corrected the size of the wastegate discharge tubing, and we now have ZERO boost creep problems. The boost holds rock-steady at whatever boost level we set it.
John's car had a slight smoking problem that we found to be caused by a burnt #1 spark plug wire. After this was replaced, no smoking problem at all. However, since there seems to be so many variances with oil pressure, we decided it would be best to simply require tapping of the oil pan to eliminate any potential problems. So we went ahead and tapped John's pan as well. His car has no issue with smoking at idle.
So, now that we are comfortable that the fittment problems have been resolved, as well as the boost creep issue, we have given Stainless Works the go ahead to finish the turbo manifolds. To be clear, these are time consuming parts to build. Al said that he started on them yesterday, and he should be able to ship 2-3 this week. As soon as we get them, we will verify that they are built correctly to fit in our new Engine/Chassis/Steering Shaft Fixture, and then start shipping the kits again.
We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding. I feel confident that the wait will be worth it once you each have your turbo kits installed.
Lastly, I will be on vacation this week. I will return on 3-31-03. Should you have any questions regarding your kit, Brad, Jonathan, or Brian at the shop should be able to help you. The store will be open normal business hours.
Have a great weekend!
