There are currently 3 companies making them for LT1's...

PTK (the best kit)
TTi street kit
STS rearmount kit

'Best' corresponds directly to your goals with the car.

If you wanted an affordable kit that is unique and will provide a decent gain on a motor with little/no motor work, see STS.

If you have a stroker motor, ready for big boost with aspirations to make numbers north of 600 or more, check out the PTK-kits.

I would say that both of these kits are great, but are for different target audiences.

Good points, but let me make corrections:

STS kit will be maxxed out around 700-750rwhp and will be somewhat laggy compared to the other kits. Not bad though.

TTi street kit will max out around 550rwhp due to its design. Good street kit and lots of fun.

PTK can be used for stock LT1 up to stroker LT1 and everything in between. As far s I know it keeps A/C and all accessories, therefor it isnt really a racekit...except it puts out numbers like a racekit. One custom is making 1000rwhp with a 355ci LT1. It has true eader design and is well designed.

I will have a custom kit for sale up on ebay in a few weeks.

Thanks for the input as well. PTK definitely seems to have the most potential, short of going all-out custom. I didn't know the STS' could actually do that much power, I'm impressed! But, I would still not do one... I am not a fan of hot-air setups, regardless of the 'distance' the air has to cool off, or whatever the science is.

I am doing a PTK Hot Side with Custom fab'd cold side, OBX Fmic, and a Y2k.. All bolted up to my 355ci. 4-bolt LT1.

We here at GMR plan to release a LT1 kit very soon, working on finishing the Twin LS1 kit first.

They have been known to be really long; HOWEVER, call Jose at Forced Inductions and see if he has any on the shelf.

I don't have any on the shelf, but hot parts only take 30 days.

I see a option to get the hot parts coated and one for stainless. I thought coated was better bu stainless cost more. I don't understand.

I'll jump in - I picked an STS kit because by the time everything was finishing up, I was running out of money (got a great deal on it), I liked the ease of install & the torque/power I wanted was right in order (600-650 ft pounds). If my goal was 800+ or so hp I probably wouldn't have gotten the STS kit - so defitently keep your goals in mind.

I'd like to run 10s with my current mods. Can a STS do that for me on stock motor and full weight?

It will definitely do it for ya with a built motor and a T70 trubo. It will be tough not to blow up the stock bottom though inorder to make the power to run 10's...atleast more than one time

You defitently will want to do some internal work & upgrade the turbo. I'm confident that the 67 turbo will be able to settle somewhere in the high 10s with proper mods (I'll certainly know in the next three months). Main problem is the slower spool time, although the problem is somewhat exagerrated (in my opinion).

A front mount with a T76 will get you where you want (in the tens). You'll want something more than the T67 and you'll need beefed up internals/stroker, lower CR, etc. if you want to really run some GOOD tens (not 10.99's) the right way. Being full-weight and wanting to keep accessories is not easy for those times, unless, of course, you have big power. Then maybe your goal will change to 9's.

Ragnadude: You will settle in the high 10's for sure, at least. You've done quite a bit to that LT1. I'd love to build up my engine the same way...
