Default ebay turbo crap

I know this has been shown before but I figured its good to post up so the newer guys stay away from this crap. This is stuff from the ebay stores that sell the stuff super cheap. Well super cheap is what you get. I hate to see this **** because I think its taking away from the small business!

Well from what I read is that the XSPOWER company has 4 different names it goes by on ebay. Some stuff works out pretty good like the OBX intercoolers and that stuff but I would stay away from the turbo and anything that has internal working parts.

i cant believe they would go to the troube to cast their own compressor housings and other components, and make that complete crap. maybe its just me, i would think youd want to be proud of your product

I wonder if the only problem with the turbos are just the cruddy compressor housings. I haven't researched these turbos nor am i thinking about buying one but what if someone installed a good compressor housing? It would be interesting to see if you could build something on a seriously limited budget.

Word is they glue thier housings together. If they skimp on the housing then I would think they do it with everything?

Any updates on these? Anyone else have trouble with them? I get customers calling all the time asking if they should buy them. I say, " good lord, NO!" I tell them my personal preference is Garrett, Precision or Innovative.

I ran one last year and it was fine except for oil seals seem to have went out. Think I needed a pressure restrictor

I dont remember where I read it, but I have read it was a hoax. I will try to find the thread. Plenty of guys on the RX7, Honda, and various other turbo related sites have used them with good results. There is a guy at work that has one of the XS Power GT45 clones on his built honda Civic. Its a built B18 or something like that. I have riden it it a couple times and I will say it is suprisingly quick. Last I saw the Civic was running low 11's, so it makes decent power.

All in all, you get what you pay for.

Hellraiser,

No doubt that the 'china' turbos lack the quality of the garrett/innovative/PTE/turbonetics stuff, but there are a lot of them out there in use now.

Compressor housings are not and have never been glued together by anyone, even the China cheapo turbos - that compressor housing was cracked in half along the casting line and someone tried to put humpty dumpty back together.

I remember when that was originally posted on honda forums and the story behind it. The guy bought that turbo second hand on Ebay. My guess is it was probably dropped by the original buyer who glued it together and resold it, but who knows. I also remember the manufacturer replacing it even though he wasn't the original buyer.

Of course now everyone who stumbles on this pic posts it up and implys it's the result of a manufacturing defect (which it may or may not be) or that the china turbos come with glued compressor housings, which is just silly. Frankly, I find it hard to imagine a mfg. or distributor glueing a broken compressor housing back together to sell it.

Just remember the rule of thumb if its to good to be true then it is. Sometime ago there was a guy on Ebay selling a complete Vortech set up for an 01 Trans Am. I won the bid for 1800 and started to think that it was to good to be true. So I started emailing the guy everyday asking questions and never got the answers I asked and so I didnt pay needless to say that persons ebay acct was closed by ebay like a week later.
