Thanks for the pics. John what kind of price did you pay for that. Also is it more of a torsion deal or just keeps crank from flexing?
Thanks

Wow, I'll bet that stops blower twist dead in its tracks! What improvements have you noticed? Any downside? That's an 8-rib, right?

Thanks,

Jim

That is not my car but I have the same thing.

It's there to keep the belt from walking off due to bracket flex. Pretty much any high boost blower setup will have some bracket flex, either from using too thin a steel for the brackets, or just some movement on the shifts, or on decel.

Chris S. aka Z8's made most of it.

I think its also there to reduce loadings on the crank, and moreso the blower bearings when you do tighten the belt up a bit.

Speaking from experience, you cant tighten the belt up a huge amount unless the blower pulley/shaft has more support. You'll end up wrecking the blower bearings like I did.

Z8's can make them, they are all custom.

So they do keep crank from snapping off?

By distributing the force thru the bracket and the strut brace, you end up:
-not wiping out blower bearings as fast/ or at all
-keeping the belt on even during the shifts and on decel
-it's a little easier on the front main bearings (not sure how much)

Half inch steel brackets are going to flex no matter what.

I doubt most folks going 145mph and faster with blower will get their without a strut brace, Most big blower F2-F3 race cars have strut brace's too. They are pretty common.
