Default Update on my Twin-T67, 408 Build - New Pictures April 4th

Getting closer. Maybe, possibly will be firing it up for the 1st time by weeks end . Here's a couple pictures. Turbo hot parts just got back from jet-coaters. AEM and coils are wired. 90% of the fuel system is done. Turbo and intake will be tightened up for the last time in next 2 days. Just some minor wiring and fuel lines left !!!!

Turbo oil drain lines

Radiator

Coil packs and AEM - located on the inside of the firewall, under dash

nice clean setup, what are you expecting out of her?

I wish I had funds to build a car like this but I'd keep it on the street.

Thanks. My sponsor and shop owner/fabricator, is being very picky on final set-up. Goals are 1000rwhp, mid-8's. It will see very limited street duty - cruise nights We've made some 'friends' in the local police department - hopefully that will help us. Should be able to make our deadline of the Easter car show in 2 weeks.

Here's the hot parts that we got jet-coated

wow very nice , how much did it cost to get the piping coated and how long did it take?

I'm picky about **** I would have sanded the welds down so it looked all smooth.

Total cost, including shipping was about $250. From mailing to coater and return 10 days.

Fuel system: Summit fuel cell, Aeromotive fittings and braided lines, Aeromotive Eliminator Fuel pump, Aeromotive in-line filter, and a couple of Aeromotive Y-blocks. Injectors are 1000cc.

The entire car is controlled by the AEM system.

Honestly that's got to be the nicest setup I've seen so far. Good work!!!

I hope that you can keep it cool with the radiator mounted like that!!!

Shouldn't be a problem. That is a 3000CFM fan, sounds like a damn "turbo" in itself.

Thanks for the compliments. Joey has put a lot of hours into this beast. Just hope this old man's driving is up to par.

do the return lines for the turbo go into the timing cover? what kind of fittings did you use and what did you have to do?

Yep they go into the cover on a small raised circle. That is about the only spot thick enough to drill and tap... I used 1/2 npt into the cover for 10an pushlock fittings. Thanks for the kind words as i have been putting alot of hours into this project.

That's a very interesting setup. I like the oil returns.....through the timing cover. Different and cool. I see the radiator in the traditional intercooler spot. Don't see an intercooler in the pics. Are you going to run one? If so, where? Pure curiosity.

Again, very nice setup.

The big alum box behind the radiator is the intercooler, an air to water unit.

JL WS-6 is right on. It has a dual core, intercooler right in front (the alum box), each core is good for 800hp. It will cool enough. The "ice" box is in the rear with the fuel cell and battery. The lines are run through the fenders, met under the dash. You can barely see the water piping running in front of the fan. I've attached a picture of the hatch.

Thanks again.

How come you decided to go with the AEM instead of BS3? BTW, again, VERY nice setup...just love the lay out...

Per experience on Joey's part. He is a dealer for AEM. Cost was another consideration. Everything will be controlled by the AEM - boost, wide-band A/F, all the normal tuning stuff, 2-step is built in. The AEM unit is a generatic EM system. They were trying to build a plug-n-play system, but they have run into some problems and the project will be more than likely be shelved - they don't believe there will be much call for the LS1 plug-n-play EM.
