Default dissapointed with H/C should have gone procharger...

Just wanted to say to all you guys.. i should have listened to yall about the procharger and instead i went with heads and cam.. i was told that the prochargers on the F-bodys run really hot and i couldnt chance that... but the H/C setup so far has been a disaster and i should have stuck with yall's opinons.

Which heads and cam, and what are the problems ?

You should be able to see low/mid 400's with heads and cam (and supporting mods - bolt-ons, intake/exhaust, etc). Add a little spray and it really gets interesting.

That SC setup can be hot, but there are aftermarket fans that can more than tame the heat...

Well heres the deal, im an A4 and and im at 400 im glad with that but i went with a 232/238 595/605 on a 112 and mti stage 2 heads. The stall was a 3600 but was defective so they put in a 3200 didnt think it would be a problem so i said w.e. I cant stall up past 2k and if i do the car lunges forward im not dissatisfied with the results just the stall i guess, but I think in the long run the procharger would have been the better way to go. Nitrous is the next step. So we will see

Have you tried "flashing" it instead of stalling it up ? (i.e. just stab the gas from idle and have the converter flash to its limit) ?

You will get a higher stall out of it that way, traction permitting...

A little nitrous will flash it even higher (if everything holds together hehe).

Flashing the converter will definately see a higher rpm. Converter rpm is dependant on the amount of torque/power applied to it. A larger cubic inch engine with more torque is going to flash a converter higher than a smaller/less torque engine will. If you suspension/tires can handle the hit, I'd try flashing it at the line instead of power braking it. You will have to experiment with it to see what works for your car. Bob

Was this converter built for your appliaction? If it's not matched to your engines power/torque it won't operate as expected. With a blower you may still encounter the exact same issue. Go speak with Fuddle or Yank Converters I'm sure they'll be able to sort it out.

Hey did you ever make it to Force Fed? Thinking about getting tuned there as well and would like to know how well of a job they did.

What fans you running? My temps are normally 190 - 200 with the SLP radiator, EWP, Extreme Fan and 160.

I have ran H/C's, Nitrous, and FI. In that order. If I had to do it over again, FI first.

Quick Reply: dissapointed with H/C should have gone procharger...
