Question Turbo gauges (where to start)

Guys I've searched the archives and got some good info but am looking for a little more insight. I plan on boosting my WS6 next winter but I want to do some of the gauges now to lessen the workload when the "fun" parts go in. I want to do a 3 gauge A-pillar setup (from Summit I guess) and am thinking about the following gauges:
• Boost level (the happy meter)
• Air/Fuel ratio (can I hook this up to my current O2 sensors or do I need to go wideband... differences?)
• Fuel Pressure

Any hints on the install or is it pretty straightforward? Did I pick the three most important gauges?

Thanks in advance
Shawn

boost pressure, fuel pressure, and wideband. an A/F is a waste. take the fuel pressure off the end of the fuel rail and reference your boost from the vacuum lne that runs to the brake booster.

Even though fuel pressure is important, if you have a gauge for air fuel ratio I would go with an oil pressure gauge. If fuel pressure drops it will show up on the A/F ratio anyway.

These are the good ones to have but if you are keeping the stock guage cluster I would at least get a shift light if not another tack, cause from some of my experiences the stock tacks are a little lazy when you put alot of power behind them!!

Thanks for the responses guys. I take it that a wideband is basically a very accurate air/fuel gauge that uses another O2 type sensor that needs to be welded in before the cats?

So it now looks like I’ll install a boost gauge, fuel pressure gauge and a wideband? Time to start shopping (any recommendations on wideband setups?).

BTW I plan on using my stock gauges for oil pressure, tch, etc. My car is a 99' WS6 6-speed. I plan on buying an STS Turbo System next winter.

Thanks again,
Shawn

Dynotune's got some great square gauges. They also have good wideband setups.

I'm running basically the same gauges in my Syclone, if I had to do it all again, I would probably drop the Pyrometer ( EGT ). No need for a pyrometer with wide band, you can be pretty sure that when you start going lean on your Wideband that your EGT's are going to jump up, no gauge needed to show you that. EGT's were really helpful before in car wideband's were available, but now IMHO they just take up space that other gauges could go in. I find that tranny temp is pretty important in a boosted auto car to track tranny temp while boost stalling the motor.

timing also does affect EGT's

i just fired my sts kit up for the first time tonight. i got my boost gauge hooked up at the little 90 up by the evaporator for the ac i also have an innovate lc1 wideband. i only have a 2 gauge pod so i opted for a wideband instead of a fuel pressure

So is it basically a flip-flop between the EGT and wideband?

Gauges and the A/C vents in the TA is another reason i love it......
The far left A/C Vent i run a 2 5/8 Trans Temp gauge.
The 3 middle i run
Boost, Fuel Pressure, and Oil Pressure.
I then have the LM-1 Wideband.
I plan on getting an E-Boost2 soon and moving the Trans Temp gauge were my TCS used to be.
