Default FI for a c6: Procharger, KB, APS

i'm looking at these three kits APS TT, Procharger, KB

my main concerns is highest trap speed combined w/ street manners.

procharger i've seen several c6's get around 600rwhp w/ just headers and 9-10psi.

but a 600rwhp procharged c6 would trap about the same as a 550rwhp turbo car? 135'ish?

APS i've only seen their project car which is 630rwhp w/ 9-10psi i believe. TT intercooled.

KB haven't seen much on them yet.

my local tuner is comfortable w/ procharger so i'm leaning that way..

Procharger will probably be the most simple way to make good peak HP. Mostly because it is simple to install and you can keep the factory hood.

Turbo kits producing the same peak HP will tend to walk those centrifugal blowers though, simply due to the increased TQ and area under the curve.

Twin-Screw and Eaton type blowers (KB and Magna) have similar powerbands as turbo setups, but make power less efficiently than a turbo system. The benefit of these types of systems is nearly full boost at 2500 rpm, with excellent throttle/torque response. They tend not to make as much peak HP at high rpm compared to a centrifugal blower though.

Different choices are a good thing. Its easier to define your realistic goals/expectations first, then choose the best path to get there.

I think either of the three is going to get you there.

Tony,

Thanks for the info! i'm amazed at the torq curve w/ the maggie and KB kit..
the KB torq curve is like i'd expect out of a monster N/A car.

very impressive #'s out of the KB kit.. for 1k more then the procharger kit..

http://www.kennebell.net/supercharge...gmCorvette.htm

they hit 600rwhp they don't mention what other extras (headers, etc) are on the car besides a 90mm tb.

Interesting options. Loud unreliable garbage, a yet to be released kit, and a beautiful looking twin turbo kit. I'd do the turbos.

Check out how much the comparible boost vs torque graphs look when comparing the roots style blower to a centrifugal. Full boost at low rpm is fun

http://www.performancetrucks.net/for...d.php?t=364324

Here is a comparison between intake temps on a roots vs screw:

Don't underestimate the roots/Eaton setups, they work well too

We just installed an ATI ProCharger on an '04 Corvette, three '04 Corvettes in a row for some reason. This particular '04 had a cat back and a cold air kit on it when it arrived. We dyno'ed this automatic C5 before installing the 8 rib ProCharger kit, and it only put out 260 rwhp on my Mustang Chassis Dyno. Very low numbers for this engine with a cat back and a cold air. We installed the ProCharger and Kooks long tube headers and the car dyno'ed at 458 rwhp. A very nice gain, at least on the dyno. How does it really do on the road? The owner of the car called me tonight on my cell phone, and said he was doing 60 mph and had turned the traction control off, and got on it. He said the car really started spinning the tires, enough to get squirrely. And this is with an automatic.
Don't underestimate the power of an ATI ProCharger, plus they are also much easier to install than many other systems. Bob

If you have the money, that APS kit is so sweet. I did hear though, that a guy that used to work for Incon is working for them now. So that's not cool, but that turbo kit is badass!!!

A KB would be sweet, but there isn't a kit available for the C6!

all you have to do is hook up the ls6 kit and order a RKsport hood like the one tony has. It mentions on the KB site it will work for LS1, LS6, and LS2

APS kit hands down!!! dont get a procharger just because your mechanic is more comfortable with it.
