Default Question for all the FI guys

If I am eventually looking to put a supercharger or tubo on my car would it be a mistake to upgrade my gear to a 3.73. I figured I would ask allof you since this is the direction I would like to go in eventaully. I dont want to waste time and money by putting a gear in and then having to take it out. Thanks for your help on this.

All answers are welcome.

From what I understand, getting a higher numerical gear(your 3.73) causes turbos to spool at a later rpm due to the engine going through the rpm range faster. This is why many stick with stock or possibly a taller gear.

Now with a centri blower that gear change could be beneficial until you put out so much power that the tire selection becomes the limiting factor. I would say a high hp centri would have its gears picked by what tire you'll be willing to run on the street. The 3.73's can definitely get you in your power band faster.

I would say take a serious look at when/if you really think you'll go fi. If it is going to be soon, I would wait on the gears. If not, they could be a fun mod.

Got 4.11's (from previous setup), they are way to big, looking to goto a 3.42.
