pointless. most journal bearing turbos now-a-days r oil-cooled while most dual ball-bearing r oil and water cooled. that being said, i had one on my import when i was 17!

when u first start ur car, u drive it calmly util it warms up. the same is caution used here, it is better to take it easy on the car the last 5-10mins of ur drive depending on how hard u were on it previously.

i was under the impression that the turbo timers were for when you shut the car off?

so you dont turn the car off with the turbo smoking hot and seize the bearings?

i thought they were so you can leave you car ideling for 5 min to let the turbo cool off while still getting oil....

i will be running one on my car but it wont be fancy.... i am just going to use a 15$ 12 volt timer and a realy...

I just breathe in, breathe out, pry my fingers off the steering wheel, and turn the ignition off. That's enough time for my oil pump, scavenger pump, and turbo to cool each other off.

that is the purpose, but to let a smoking hot turbo/engine sit at idle for 5mins does not cool it that well. infact i have heard stories of engines overheating b/c they had a shitty fan/radiator.

if ur going to be on ur car hard, it is better to drive calmly for the last 5-10mins letting air cool both the engine and turbo through the radiator and i/c. if u keep the car at low rpms and dont build boost for a lil bit u will be fine.

why would that be awkward??? i will wire it in with a switch and if the switch is on the car idles for 5 minutes then shut off? if the switch is off the car will shut off right away..

also if your car overheats sitting there you have bigger problems than a turbo timer....

I follow the same procedure as the guys above. 10-15min cool-down cruise after beating on it.

why would you not run one... its like insurance for you turbo... (and a ls1 is NOT going to overheat at idle) they are also really kool when you get pulled over by the cops and they tell you to turn your car off haha
