sound right?
so i made a list today of all the things that i would need and it came out to be about $3,375! my list included the turbo, FMIC, WG, piping, lines, gauges, fuel pump, fuel regulator, and fitings. think i would be better off buting a kit?

If you can weld and are a decent fabricator, I say do it yourself. Granted, this is coming from someone who's never done it before, so take that for what it's worth.
Did you also include the cost of new fuel rails, fuel injectors, tuning software, etc? Why don't you throw up the list of what you've got and others may be able to offer insight as to important items you may have overlooked or costs that will end up being higher than anticipated.

sometimes doin it yourself is better than buying a kit...but than again it all depends on what you wanna do and what your goal is.
Anyways either way i think that if you do enough research and know your ****..i think in the end you will save money whether it be alot or alittle, but you will save something. You will just have to bust your *** and put in alot of hours because its not a pre-designed kinda thing. so in other words the little stuff WILL become a bit of a headache somewhere along the way
i say go for it, i am

whew! sounds like i am getting a lot of mixed ideas. i have 4 months with no license and wanted to basically rebuild the car. i figured that while i am at it i should just boost it. my friend with his knowledge of turbo systems would be helping me too. i belive the hardest part of this would be the headers/where to mount the frontmount and how.

When you slam the TB closed the forced air has nowhere to go, it causes the compressor wheel to come to a screaching stop. The abuse tends to be hard on the turbo(s) and sometimes causes failures. With some type of BOV in the system, the pressure gets vented and the wheels free-wheel. Obviously with an auto you're not closing the TB from WOT very often, they are more forgiving if there's no BOV in place.

A good rule of thumb is that if your making 9psi or more, you should have something to relieve the pressure. In high boost apps, it would be there to not only protect the impeller(s) but also to prevent damage to the IC and or plumbing.
Anyone ever seen the end tanks blown off the IC core?
