Default STS with ATI

Here is a customer car we just finished adapting the ATI Twin Intercooler to the existing STS kit:

http://www.jlturbo.com/pics/stsati/stsati.htm

Before the intercoolers with the stock turbo and on the stock rear end it went 11.5 @ 127

Now we have just finished/adapted the intercoolers and are building a bigger turbo for the car. We have also added a 9" (locker) and have a 2-step going in the car

The goal to be safe in the 10's @ 135+ (it is a 6spd)

interesting setup...definately adds to the sleeper look, but how does it compare to a front mount intercooler set-up??

No idea yet...we just finished the intercoolers and have now taken the turbo off to get it built bigger. We have not even driven the car yet. It will be interesting for sure...

Interesting idea. Is there any way you could reverse the inlet/outlet for the ATI intercoolers? Somehow, if/when I go this route, I'd want the outlets to point towards the center so I could get rid of the ProCharger airbox and run my intake pipe straight up the middle, in front of the A/C condenser. It would also shorten the trip for the charged air to the intercoolers, and reduce the amount of piping I think. But damn, I really like that idea! Flow numbers and IAT numbers are definately something I'm interested in too.

for some reason im not too crazy about the idea of the procharger airbox, but will definitely have some people like wAIT is that turbocharged -nahhhh cmon stop playin, seriously? lol ..i dunno but everything esle looks kickass hopefully it runs cooler/better than be4...i would also like to see some numbers to see if the gains are worthwhile with a setup like this..cuz it looks like alot more piping goin in and around all over the place

well good luck and hopefully ill be seeing you JL guys soon. i might be stopping by there to waste some money and see what else i can do to my ride

What you can do to eliminate the airbox is buy another Y pipe from ATI like the one that joins the pipes together into the intercoolers and use it instead of the box. This will give you much smoother airflow and less psi drop. If anyone is interested I too have a full set with piping of these intercoolers for sale as i chose the route of FMIC for my STS.

We thought about doing that, but we worked with what the owner gave us. We can always swap it out in the future. It is very true...the box is unnecessary.

Running a 2.6 KB and 90mm STS turbo on the back would be sweeet. I can see it happening soon on vettes. The KB will spool the huge turbo really fast. I think the trick is to implement some kind of clutch to disable the KB after certain RPM.

you just run low boost on the kb and a larger turbo for the top end...a kb running 5psi would not be that much strain on the motor and than the big turbo running like 12psi or higher #'s if you got the motor to take it

they have been doing it with the mini's for a while...its a great setup if you got the $$$$$$$$

no need LSs1power! all you need is a big enough bypas vavle on the supercharger and a little bit of electronics! as you start to get positive presure infront of the blower then yopuopen the valve! then you close the vavle when you are back down to (manifold) just blower presure! easy! lol

it would be very nice to see but i dont think it will ever take off in a big way! far to complex and VERY costly (about 15-8K in parts alone).

thanks Chris.
