Default Mustangs V.s. LS1's

not to familiar with superchargers or turbos yet, but just wanting to know from all of the clips ive seen. why is the whinding sound alot louder on a mustang then on the LS1's? thanks

whinding sound? what are you refering to exactly? there is a whining sound from the mustang cobra's if that's what you're talking about. And that would be the supercharger.

should of been more clear. i know its the cobras OR a gt if supercharged. just wanting to know why is it louder and more noticeable then an ls1 superchrged.

Maybe more boost?? LS1's usually run 6-8psi,right?

I used to have a 99 Cobra and those things sounds awsome. I think it has something to do with the firing order and exhaust layout of the mustangs. Adding a FI should add the same sound to both LS1's and Mustang, but the mustangs has a better engine sound from my experince.

I think he is talking about the whinning of the supercharger itself. Nothing to do with the exhaust. It's because of the type of supercharger. It's a positive displacement roots type supercharger. Not a centrifical one like Procharger or Vortech which is widely used on LS1's.

You got it.

Ever hear a F1R at idle? It sounds like a gosh damned jet. A positive displacement blower on a C5 will scream like a little girl too.

I heard a maggie on a zo6 vette and was like dam!!! To be honest I dont think if it was ever do able a roots type on a F-body will make power close to what vortech or ati makes.


Then again what do I fuggin know

Positive displacement roots s/c I almost got one for my grand cherokee.

Any roots blower will make that sound, you should hear a 6-71/8-71 blower car !

well if your talking about centrifical blowers ....you gotta look at where the sc sits....on the mustangs they are up above....while the ls1s the sc sit down almost under the engine...im sure that kiils alot of the sound...
