Exclamation ATI blown Z06 question.....

well im lookin at a 2002 Z06 with an A&A ATI kit.....
it was de-tuned by A&A from 560rwhp to 535rwhp on 6psi. (pisc)

but the car has 6000 miles with the blower on it. and im wondering if that is a little high? i drove the car... everything is fine, and it has a very safe tune, and the car is VERY well taken care of., (babied)...... so how many more miles do you think i could get out of the stock shortblock before somthing breaks?

how many miles do you guys have on your blown stock shortblocks?

i am going into this deal with plans of doing at least a forged 346.

but i would like to know how much wear is on the motor and head unit
with 6K miles....

any info would be great...... thanks guys!

I put a D-1SC at 7 psi on my '99 hugger orange Z28 when the car and it's engine had 110,000 miles on it. At 124,000 miles we upped the boost to 15 psi, and it lasted for quite a while at the insanely high boost level. With a good tune, these engines show very little wear. There is no reason why you can't put tens of thousands of miles on the car. Bob

wow... thats some serious boost on a stock block.

thanks for the info.... well i figured that if the tune wasent very safe it should of allready had problems, and since A&A de-tuned it a bit to me it sounds safe.
so i may get 6-8K more miles on it?, thats good news.....

i think im going to send the car to A&A to have him do an inspection and dyno test also....

thanks again...

You should be fine. I've got almost 10k miles on my car since I installed the blower 7 or 8 months ago with 6 psi. Don't need to be taking it up to redline every time. If you just drive it normal, you will have no problems.

I have a 00 FRC vette. Andy's kit w/ a P1SC running 6# of boost... I put it on w/ 43k now I have 61k on the car and it runs just as good as when I put it on...

I also auto-x the car alot so it's not babied 100%, but I do change the oil on a regular basis and plugs...

6,000 miles is nothing. Just make sure you get the oil changed in the blower at regular intervals.

U gots nothign to worry bout unless u got horrile luck. I dirve it like i stole it daily at 12 psi makin 600+ with no issues at all. This last weekend we went to drag(it rained out so no actual drag) and we were goin 9/10's teh whole way for hours and it never hiccupped once. I have 15k miles on it since i turbo'd it. GL man im sure ull love teh FI. Jsut too bad u didnt do it on ur Hugger Camaro.
