Default How I blew up 2 new turbos

Well my new 0 mile MP T70s are dead, after less than 50 miles.

The culprit was oil starvation, we had a bad earls line. Funny thing is all these oil lines were just fine last year, so we didn't think to double check them.

Turns out that the oil line that feeds my T to the two turbos was messed up, a piece of rubber got stuck in the line from bad assembly and caused both turbos to starve.

We noticed the starvation when we turned off the car and heard the impeller touch the compressor housing, neither seems to be damaged at all as the just touched for a second as it was spooling down from idle.

Anyone know if they are rebuildable?

sorry to hear that. this has nothing to do with your turbo starving but I was wondering how you hooked up the drains/returns. did you t it or two fitting to the oil pan or what? Need to figure it out for my setup. thanks

TFE hose is the same stuff they use for nitrous hoses. Takes hire pressure and won't degrade or have pieces break off like the rubber stuff sometimes does.

If you go on summit, it will ask if you want teflon lined hose or not. If you do, make sure you get TFE fittings as well. They are not interchangable. It's basically a hard plastic hose as opposed to the rubber stuff. Much easier to work with as far as putting fittings on IMHO.

I already talked to him, the cost of shipping it to him, getting it rebuilt and shipping it back is $100 less than a new identical unit shipped.

This makes me pretty sad, I was very stoked to be driving the beast around again.

On a side note I did get a chance to pick on a corvette a little on one of my test drives

thanks to the et streets we can accually get traction in second gear now, still spins first though, but WOW, that car moves, poor corvette, was fun though.

I can't wait to see what it will do on more than 9 lbs now.

and by the way, it wasn't any fun driving my car after being in yours, it's just to slow now. I need more boost, come on set me up, just one more pound thats it.
