Default Another 98 Camaro SS, T-88, 370 Iron Block Build

Joey's personal 98 Camaro SS is finally started.

- 370 6.0L Iron Block (Bored not stroked)
- Diamond -15cc piston
- Stock crank shaft
- Stock heads w/Patriot Gold .650 lift springs
- Custom cam from Cam Motion Via W2W
- Cam Motion lifters
- W2W push rods

- Precision T-88 turbo, Tial wastegates and BOV's
- Intercool with a custom air-to-ice system build by Joey

Will have a TCI TH-400. Joey is building his own 9". Converter has yet to be determined.

His car will be for street and strip. Biggest thing is completion date. Hopping for the fall but he is really bogged down with work at the shop - I'm sure I'm not a help with 98 SS twins .

Here's a couple pictures of his build. I'm sure he can get into more specific on the build. The last picture is his custom air-to-water holding tank. AND yes with a mustang in the back ground. Another shop project car - will be running twin T-61's.

I love how he does the radiator mounting. Have you tested yours on the street at all?

Yep - well a little. Drove my SS to a local carshow. No problems. Even at the track this weekend, air temp was 96 degrees, track 140. Fans came on a little while, but never got about 170-175. Track conditions were not the best, so no new best, still going off wastegates, finally got my 8 second license.

Joey's build will be killer. It will have a full interior to include the back seat - I have no idea who would be crazy enough to set in the backset of the SS with a 10-point roll cage Not me!! . A lot to go, but it is nice to see some progress. Front end clip and fender is at the painters. Still looking for a good price on the hood he wants.

How much of an improvement did you see with the electric pump vs the stocker? I am going to do the same swap as soon as I can save up the 500+.

Not sure. I have been running the same one for the last 3-4 years. Now wait until you see Joey's set-up. Notice NO water pump !!! Pictures will be needed to explain the set up. Joey continues to amaze people at his ideas.

Unfortunately, Joey is not a sponsor - yet. BUT he would not sell a "kit." Every car he builds is different than the last. -- i.e. intercooler. Mine sets in front. The Rustangs (I'm sorry Mustang ) will be done in the front part of the engine bay front fender. Joey's will be attached to fire-wall. Again pictures will be worth a thousand words. Maybe Joey/Ryan (the Mustang owner) will shoot a couple of pictures of his build.

Everything he builds is one-off. Seems to work out very well.

Thanks again for all the compliments. Joey does know his **** - and doesn't mind coming to the track and help.

Not really, Joey tunes my car - I don't know crap about tuning with the AEM. He could just take all the boost out of it and than race me

Kyle - Black. He painted my engine bay also, he used the factory dull dark blue. So what does he do on his? Welded all the holes shut, body putty this shut, primer it, wet sand it and than shoot it shinny black . Actually mine looks great

He'll make more than enough power with the stocker - I have to hold him down a little .. These are my 98 stockers, valve job and springs/retainers, etc. Money is a little tight, figured we would get it running this way first and than add some AFR's/ET heads this winter.

Joey, wasn't this last weekend fun Got to learn how to drive on ice You mean that the car isn't suppose to go from one edge of the lane to the other side and your rear-end isn't suppose to run beside the front end. I mean no body else was using the whole track

It's not "aren't willing" but can't. Joey would be more than glad to build you a one-off set up. We have a 67 Camaro with a T-106 in the build channels. Will be tuned for 1500+ rwhp. I'm sure Joey will get a few minor bugs worked out. Bad *** to say the least.

I'll attach a sample of the 67's build. Chad's 67 is really similar to an LS1 build, just that it isn't an LS1. Fuel injected - old and new school brough together.

And than there is the LT1 97 SS 383ci Blower project car; and the 93 Mustang twin T-61 build; and than oh yea another 93 Mustang twin turbo build. He does keep busy. Considering it is a 3 man shop. All fabrication, engine builds, ect are done in house.
