Default Why buy Procharger?...

Ok, this may seem like a noob question but why would someone spend over $6k for an ATI Procharger setup to gain 150+ HP or so on a LS1 engine when you could spend half that in a brand new 6.0 L LS2 block and be pushing over 400 out of the box then take the other $3k and spend it in LS2 upgrades...Or better yet just grab a big nasty 570 c.i. and already have all the forged parts and be pushing near 700 hp...Just a thought...The only reason I see the Procharger being an advantage is because you can adjust the amount of boost. But realistically wouldn't you be spending more money in the long run with a Procharger doing forged engine upgrades on a stock LS1 than you would with just buying an already forged engine?

With 8 psi of boost with an ATI ProCharger we typically gain an extra 140 rwhp on my Mustang Chassis Dyno. This is at the tires hp, not at the engine. Yes, you can get this kind of horsepower with a larger fully built engine, but it will be at the expense of driveability and fuel mileage. Bolt on an ATI ProCharger, and you'll still get great gas mileage and you can still take the car on vacations. Bob

The cool thing about it is you could let the wife drive the car and she wouldn't notice anything was different except a strange whining noise, unless she tried to pass someone.

I would guess the question is also being asked, by someone who has never driven a forced induction car...

There is absolutely no comparison than with a normally aspirated car.

And with FI tuning.....those gains are only the beginning.

You spend all that money on a n/a motor...then what do you do ??

Blow it of course

^^I agree with all the above^^ And not to mention the ease of bolting on a blower, versus doing an entire engine swap

I remember gaining 311rwhp with my procharger. Maybe I should have gone with the 402 and had 400 at the rear instead of what I have now lol.

I would like to know where you could find brand new LS2 motor for $3k

I have a NA set up now that I'm going to take out for a FI set up (maybe a Procharger). You lose a lot of drivability going with an agressive NA set up, this is why I'm switching. With a Procharger you just bolt it on and you still maintain almost stock drivablilty. Also depending on how big you want to go with your fuel upgrades and how agressive your tune is you can make some serious power with it.

I really hope the person that made this tread was joking, or he/she does not know what they are talking about IMO

Yup... that makes 2 of us. Lets see my baseline for my car was 305rwhp with LTs and exhaust. I added a Procharger and baby cam along with methanol and see over 600rwhp. With the potential to make much more power.

I went Procharger because I knew I would have room to grow and keep making more and more power with it. Adding a built 408 to the Procharger with some nice big heads is really going to make this thing scream, and I still have the option to add nitrous also. So basically by going the FI route I enabled myself to do all the mods on top of it. Plus I like having my power all of the time, as opposed to having a bottle making the extra power. Although I guess once you are making over 500rwhp on the street it becomes useless anyways.

My dad bought the original (Oil hole in pan) D1 with an aftermarket kit to for his 1995 Dodge Ram V-10...I thought the stock 300HP and 450FTLB was nice when we were out destroying his Michelins...THEN we laid down rubber for over 2 1/2 blocks in front of our house after the D1 install! Scares the bajesus out of people when we pull on em' in a 2500series extended cab long bed Dodge...AND yes we did eventually SNAFOO and have blown out a head gasket two seperate times being selfish with pulley swaps/Viper Computer...Dad swore we would never install that damn Viper Computer as it had WAY to much advanced leading to our DOUBLE gasket BLOWOUT. We plan to use Methanol Spray bar on the Intercooler soon. Sorry no drag times...This is his daily driver! I say Procharger is #1 for supercharging. I personally like TWIN TURBO'S!

Again, I don't see where you get your info. But your reasoning is all wrong, and your prices are not ever close.

Read up a bit more and you will soon understand.

STEVIETURBO, I just saw your sig, and watched that vid. Nice ******' ride man! I bet you surprise the **** out of everyone with that toy.
