Default Forced induction cam,,,,,,

I am currently running a 240/240 .608 @ 114 cam in my 427. This is a very streetable cam and makes decent power.

I have been thinking about going with a forced induction setup..

Would this cam work? How much would dropping to a smaller cam effect HP?

Thanks in advance for the imput.

A friend of mine used a cam similar to this in a 2800LB turbo Vette. It was a 406 / glide with a 3500 stall converter with trans brake. The turbine had a very large AR ratio and was suited for the cam with little back pressure on the exhaust. But keep in mind this was not a street car and had little power when not on boost. With an LSA of 114 you got 12 degs of overlap on 240 @ .050", big cams don’t like the exhaust back pressure of smaller AR ratios. If your looking for a good turbo street cam try a 232 / 224 with a 114 LSA or a 236 / 226 with a 115 LSA. You will have plenty of cylinder filling and minimal overlap which will give you good manners on the street while not on boost.

Most cam manufactures make special grind camshafts for custom apps. Give em a call...

Fastbasser, I read your post again and I noticed you didn't mention turbo or supercharger. If you wanted to use a supercharger and not a turbo, your cam would be ok. Sorry for not noticing the first time...

Thanks for the reply. I am leaning toward a supercharger.

From what I can see, at over 600 plus rwhp, it really doesnt make much difference except in bragging rights!!

I am just looking for the next step w/o having to keep filling the bottle..
