Default FMU should raise fuel pressure correct?

Just got a used Powerdyne installed (yea I know, not the best way to go but I got a great deal) and I dont think the FMU is working. The fuel pressure isnt changing at all under boost, My friend, who I got the kit from says he thinks it was only supposed to keep the pressure from dropping, not actualy raise the pressure, but I think he's wrong. (its been sitting a few years, so neither of us remember for sure)

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Troy

Yes, it should raise the fuel pressure. It is probably not plumbed correctly. Bob

The thing has to be plumbed on the return line. It restricts flow back to the tank thus raising the pressure.

im pretty sure its hooked up correctly, I actualy dont see any other way to hook it up, hose from fuel rail to FMU, long hose from FMU to fuel return line to the tank, vac hose to the brake booster line.. sound right? He did say that he had to have it replaced, Im wondering if I need a new one, its been sitting for a few years

Thanks for the info guys!

I had the FMU when I first got my ATI kit. It worked fine for a little while but I noticed one day the FP didn't rise. Did some back to back 80% runs to test. Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't.

I took it apart and found a build-up/deposit on the "piston" inside and was causing it to stick. Cleaned it, re-assembled, and went for another couple test runs.

Worked fine for a week or so then started acting up again. I pulled it and tossed it in the garbage.

Changed to an AFPR and tune.
