Default Dumbest question, or Hardest??

Well, What makes a Supercharger/ or Turbo whine (at idle)??

Is it ?

-Undergreased bearings
-Overgreased Bearings
-Lack of oil
-Too much oil
-Blower Belt

Or what?

i know the woosh sound comes from the impeller sucking air, but the high pitched whine i guess comes from gears when the car isnt making boost?

yeah i dont recall hearing a whining noise on a turbo, its a little different, its more like a sound a jet makes when its taking off.

As said most SC whine is from gears, but I also get some from my Mondo bypass - it's more of a whistle at idle. It may be due to how I have it set up.

If you hear the turbo at idle...turn the car off , its time for a rebuild...
