where to muffle an STS
I picked up a Moroso Spiral FLow Muffler and was planing on putting it right after the turbo. Its short about 12" long has a 3" in and out and a 4" body. And has no Packing material to get oil soaked. Some one at work thought I should put it before the turbo like the resonator in the loadmouth system. The STS isn't too load, but theres a droan that drive me nuts while cruising the higway in 5th gear. Anyone else put theirs before or after the turbo? Was there any sound/ performance diff with the muffler before or after?

are you kidding?
they drone like a ****, especially without cats.
put the muffler after the turbo, if you really want it to sound nice and quiet it down considerably in the cabin do a dual muffler setup like I did. Plumb the wastegate into as well to get rid of that horrible shhhhhhhhhhhh sound it makes under boost.
here are a few pics of what I did.

Thanks for the info. The drone is around 2000-2500 rpm, and out here in Ca. I've still got cats. BLACKBird, you're set up is similar to mine with the pipe under, the axle. Ive got the wastegate going to a dummy pipe on the drivers side, unless your kissing the concrete you cant tell there a STS on the WS6's. when the wastegate opens it scares me.sounds different almost like somethings wrong. I guess I just gotta get used to it.

Not kidding! I cant see anything that could be different, but I cant recall any that we have done that would bother someone on the street. Maybe I'm more tolerant, but I doubt it. I'm an old guy

the exhaust on an STS with out cats is very loud an annoying while around the 2000-2500 rpm range. i installed a bullet muffler on the tailpipe after the exhaust, it made a big difference and quieted the rasp out of the exhaust , it sounds deeper and actually better. i only run exhaust out the rt side 3" pipe.
