Default Made a new inlet hat for my Procharger (Warning!! alot of pics)

As everyone knows the stock hat is a bit restrictive. I didn't know exactly how bad it was for my set-up though. Thought maybe 2 psi.

I have a 9.1 comp 346, ported heads, TR 224/227,D1SC w/ 3.50 pulley, SDCE 8rib, FMIC, stock MAF with screen, stock TB,stock LS6 intake, TTS long tubes, 3" y-pipe (no cats) into 4" over the axel back to 3" duals.

Here's some pics of the exhaust if you want to take a look.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/537900-pics-my-new-exhaust-3-4-3-warning-alot-pics.html

I was at 13-13.5 psi @ 6200 before changing my exhaust to the current one. After that it went down to 11 psi max.

Figured I'd just pulley it back up but wanted to look further into the restriction of the inlet hat. Pulled the hat and filter and went for a quick test run. Boost shot up to 15-15.5 psi before I even hit 6200 . I was shocked to say the least. Now I just needed a solution.

I've been following the 4" alumimum elbow fix but didn't want to do what was needed to make it fit. Also saw the hats that a couple members made up for themselves.

I had some leftover pipe laying around from when I did the exhaust. Decided on trying to do dual 3". It's tight but I managed to get it to work. I would have liked to have done stainless or aluminum but I didn't have either, or a tig.

Circle area: 3" & 4" sizes slightly smaller due to I.D. measurements.

stock hat w/small filter on bypass hole
3" + 1" = 7.07 + .78
= 7.85

single 3.85"...........= 11.6

dual 2.85" = 6.38 x 2 = 12.76

Weights not that bad. Maybe 4lbs total between the new inlet and the other filter. There's about 3/8"-1/2" clearance from the inlet to the fan shroud.

Went out to test but it started to rain. Supposed to rain all day tommorrow as well . I'm hoping that it picks up a bit of hp. I mean how can it not, right .

Nice! Does that fit w/o moving the radiator forward? Let us know how it works! I plan to do something with mine too, hopefully with one pipe/filter.

The radiator is moved forward about 1/2" top and bottom. I had to do that for clearance when I put the 2nd 12" fan in.

There should still be just enough room without moving it. You'd just have to move the pipe a little closer to the blower case. Might have to mess with the radius as well.

Interesting, let us know how it works.

I'm wondering how much restriction I'm getting from the stock inlet/filter setup...

Looks promising. I tried one of those import mushroom filters & gained nothing at the track.

Looks nice, now my dumbass Q is, does your blower outlet point differently than "stock" ATI kits? perhaps you're running a Front mount? I'm not sure the second filter would clear my outlet tubing... Looks very good though! I'm impressed! Let us know how she performs

Thanks. Yes it points differently. Out towards the drivers side for the FMIC. I don't remember how much room there is in the stock position. It may be possible with a slight change to the piping. If you need a little more room you can loosen the allen bolts and re-clock the case a little.

Rain finally stopped. Went out for a run and picked up 2.5 psi . I had no delusions that I'd see the full 4.5 psi I saw without a hat. Would've been nice though .

I want to do a couple more tests.

I'm going to pull the smaller of the 2 filters to see if there's any gain. Maybe a larger one will be more beneficial.
Then I'll pull both filters to see how much is lost just across the inlet hat.

It was just to nice out to not go for a cruise .

I'll let you guys now what I find out.
